LoGiudice Leads Kean in 2-1 NJAC Opening Round Win

Union, N.J. (4/30/19) – Junior Frank LoGiudice tossed a complete game while also helping himself at the plate as he was 3-for-3 with two RBI as the Kean University baseball team topped William Paterson University by the final of 2-1 in the opening round of the NJAC Tournament.

LoGiudice (7-2) scattered seven singles allowing no earned run while striking out six and walking three.

The Pioneers (25-14) pushed one across in the top of the first as Carson Weis used a groundball out to score Steven DiGirolamo who led off the game reaching on an error.

Kean (29-12) answered right back in the bottom of the same frame as Mike Perone Jr. walked with one out.  He moved to second and third on wild pitches and LoGuidice singled him home for the 1-1 score.

The Cougars pushed across what would be the winning run in their half of the sixth as Perone again walked with one out.  He moved to second on an interference call at first base and LoGuidice again found the outfield to drive him home.

Matt Ferrara was 3-for-4 with three singles while Steve Yelin and Carlos Perez each had two singles for the Pioneers in the loss.

Kean advances to take on The College of New Jersey on Friday evening at 7 p.m.  William Paterson will face Rowan University in an elimination game at noon at Friday.  All games will be played at Jim Hynes Stadium.
