Andrade Named SCIAC Hitter of the Week

LOS ANGELESAntonio Andrade was named SCIAC Hitter of the Week on Monday after a hot weekend at the plate.

Andrade went 5 for 10 with a double, triple, four RBIs and three runs as the Tigers swept Redlands in a three-game series to finish the regular season and clinch the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

Oxy, which is currently No. 4 in the West Region with a record of 28-12 and 16-8 in SCIAC, plays at No. 2-seeded La Verne to begin the double-elimination tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. All of the games on Saturday and Sunday will be at No. 1 Chapman.

The Tigers have totaled four SCIAC Hitter of the Week awards and two SCIAC Pitchers of the Week this season. Jake Fredrickson has earned Hitter of the Week twice and Reid Gibbs once, and Nolan McCarthy has been the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week twice. Oxy has also had four players earn D3baseball.com Team of the Week honors with Jack Brancheau, Jake Fredrickson, Diego Ramirez and Michael Netzel all making the list.
