#13 Kean Coasts Past Haverford, 19-2

Union, N.J. (2/29/20) – The Kean University baseball team exploded for 19 runs as they coasted past Haverford College, 19-2 on a cold Saturday afternoon.

Graduate student Kevin Stewart earned his third win of the young season as he tossed six innings allowing just two runs while fanning 10. He was one of 24 Cougars (6-2) who saw action in the contest.

The teams swapped single runs early before Kean took the lead for good in the fourth.  Frank LoGiudice got things going with a one out single and Chris Vetter followed with one of his own.  Derek Walker registered an RBI sacrifice and Conner DeForge later collected an infield RBI single.  Cristian Corcione rounded out the scoring with an RBI single in the hole for a 4-1 advantage.

The Fords (0-1) got one back in the top of the sixth as Grant Schwartz doubled to led off the inning and Ben Somorjai  answered with an RBI single.  Stewart shut them down from there as Haverford would be held scoreless for the remainder of the contest.

The Cougars on the other hand put the game out of reach, scoring 15 runs over the next three innings.

Corcione led all players with three RBI as he was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Zachary Marzano, LoGiudice, Timothy Huxen, and Brandon Johannessen all recorded two hits on the day as Kean collected 18 in the win.

The Cougars return to action on Sunday against Susquehanna University for their final game before heading south for spring break action.
