SAUGET, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team opened the season with a loss to Wartburg on Saturday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
Alexander Schram received the ball in the opener for Benedictine
Wartburg struck first, scoring twice with a two-out double in the bottom of the second
Wartburg, playing for the fourth time this season, added to the lead with another two-out run in the third
Benedictine pulled within a single run in the third
Jack Surin led off with a double and scored on a two-out double from newcomer Kevin Bushnell
Brenden Norberg was hit by a pitch and Cameron Falk stroked an RBI single to right-center
Ryan Doubek drew a walk to load the bases but Wartburg escaped the frame with the lead
Wartburg added an unearned run in the sixth and tacked on three more in the seventh

STAT LEADERS
Schram worked six innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits, walking four and striking out three
Ryan Renken opened the seventh and Drake Berman threw the final 1.2 innings
Six different individuals tabulated hits in the season opening defeat
Norberg reached base three times with Surin reaching twice
Benedictine left eight on base in the loss
