How It Happened

• The Spartans got on the board early for the second straight game. Brandon White singled with one out to start the rally. After a pop up for the second out, Luke Turner stayed hot and drilled a single to right. White and Turner rode home when senior Jack Barry hammered a first-pitch over the wall in right as the Green and White took a 3-0 lead.

• The Dutchmen got one of those runs back in the bottom of the second as Dave Mangold drew a bases loaded walk but senior starter Robert Chaney got out of the sticky wicket with a strikeout and a nifty 4-6-3 double play, turned deftly by Joe Capobianco and Austin Denlinger.

• York posted a second three-run inning in the third. Denlinger led off the frame with a double down the left field line. He scored when Turner ripped a double of his own to left field. Turner scored when Barry stroked a single to center for his fourth RBI of the game. Barry would eventually come around to score when Jayden Cowan singled up the middle with two outs as York led 6-1.

• The Spartans closed out the scoring in the top of the six as Emidio Bucci picked up his first career hit with a single up the middle to open the frame. He moved to third on Craig Wiley's double to deep left and scored on a White sacrifice fly to center on a ball White just missed squaring up.

• The offensive outburst would be more than enough support for the Spartan pitching staff. York combined to toss eight innings, allowing just four hits, striking out seven, walking five and surrendering just the one Dutchmen run.
