A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta baseball team split their doubleheader with Brockport Saturday afternoon at Red Dragon Baseball Field. Brockport took the first game 8-1 before the Red Dragons captured the nightcap 3-1.

The Inside Story
In the first game, Oneonta could only muster four hits in the game. The Red Dragons scored their lone run in the bottom of the third. Sean McGlynn put down a sacrifice bunt, but the attempt to throw hit out at first sailed away, allowing Liam Kaseta to score. Michael Sabatine had two of the Oneonta hits, while James Zupo added a double.

Senior Michael Dunne suffered the loss for Oneonta after giving up five runs in three innings of work.

In the nightcap, Brockport got on the board in the top of the fourth on a Michael Spulnick RBI single to left. Oneonta tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Sean Liquori led off the inning with a single up the middle. Sophomore Jake Barrett followed with an RBI double to deep centerfield, knotting the game at 1-1.

The score remained the same until Oneonta plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. James Zupo started the inning with a leadoff single up the middle. After he advanced to second on a wild pitch, Jake Barrett gave the Red Dragons the lead for good with an RBI single. With runners on first and second, it appeared that Patrick McGee was going to be the second out of the inning when popped up into foul territory, but he was given a second chance when the ball was misplayed. McGee made it hurt with a double to center, scoring Barrett with an insurance run.

Mike Losak retired the Golden Eagles in order in the top of the seventh to earn his first win of the season. Losak allowed just one hit in three innings of work while striking out two. Matthew Petrossi tossed the first four innings, allowing one run on three hits.
