GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- The Marymount University baseball team pushed its win streak to seven consecutive games on Saturday afternoon with a pair of victories over Atlantic East Conference foe Gwynedd Mercy.

Game One

The Saints stayed hot at the plate in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, as 10 hits turned into a 7-3 victory over the Griffins. MU tagged Gwynedd Mercy's starter for five runs across five innings to blow the game open.

Alex Lemery was Marymount's dangerman at the dish with four hits in four at-bats. The junior registered three RBI and scored one run to round out his contributions. Casey Baker added a solid day at the plate to push along Marymount's barrage with a pair of hits and a walk. MU's offense was fairly consistent, as the Saints scratched across a pair of runs in each of the last three innings to seal the win.

On the mound, senior Drew Mead earned his third victory of the season after giving up just three hits across 4.1 innings of work. Mead fanned two Gwynedd Mercy batters as he kept the Griffins at bay. Kenny Sysyn closed out the contest for MU with a solid two innings of work.

Game Two

The second game saw the Saints' normally potent offense slow against the Griffins' cadre of arms. Frank Ebling started on the mound for the home side and had success early, but the Saints managed to chase him after five innings.

Justin DiDonato started the game for the Saints and worked through 3.1 innings before Jake Andrews entered the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning. The rookie did not disappoint, as he gave up no hits across 3.2 innings and struck out two to earn the first win of his career. Clint Wheeler allowed no hits over the final two frames to close out the contest and earn a save.

MU struck first in the third inning with a two-out rally. Robby Cable got things started with a single before he swiped second. With a runner in scoring position, Bobby Leitzel cashed in with a single to left field to give MU a 1-0 advantage.

Gwynedd Mercy knotted the score in the bottom of the fourth inning, as a bases-loaded walk tied the game at 1-1. Marymount responded in the sixth inning with a pair of runs. With runners on second and third, Ryan Maylie belted a ball towards first base that scored Bill Wojcik. Baker was responsible for MU's next run with a single to left field that plated Lemery. That was all the run support Marymount's arms needed, as the Saints cruised to a 3-1 victory.

Marymount returns to action on Friday, April 9, when the Saints travel to Dover, Delaware, for a contest against Wesley College. First pitch against the Wolverines is scheduled for 3 p.m.
