Union, N.J. (4/8/21) – Rookie Nolan Rowan became the third player in school history to toss a nine-inning no-hitter as the Kean University baseball team blanked Stockton University, 4-0 on Thursday afternoon in NJAC action.

Rowan earned his first collegiate win in the process as he allowed five walks and one hit-batsmen in the two hour affair.  He fanned five.

The Cougars (6-6, 1-2 NJAC) got on the board in the fourth as Michael Medvetz lofted a two out, solo homer to right for a quick 1-0 lead.  Kean added two more in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second and two outs.  Christian Pellone singled to left to make it 2-0 and he later moved to third on a throwing error that should have ended the inning, allowing Frank LoGiudice to score.

Kean made it 4-0 in the bottom of the eighth as Medvetz scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a single.

John Perrino led off the ninth for Stockton (3-4, 1-2 NJAC) and lined a shot up the middle that ricocheted off the foot of Rowan.  Pellone was able to change direction, scoop it up and throw to first for the first out of the inning.  It was all Rowan after that, as he fanned the last two batters he faced.

LoGiudice, Pellone and Tim Huxen all had two hits each for Kean.

The two teams will be back at it tomorrow in Galloway for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
