KEENE, N.H. — Senior JR DiSarcina (Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore DJ Perron (Swansea, Mass.) combined for six hits and five RBI to power the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to a 13-2 victory over Keene State College this afternoon in a Little East Conference baseball contest.  The Corsairs registered their second highest hit total (14) of the campaign to sweep the three-game season series with the Owls and improve their overall record to 8-12 and 6-7 in the conference circuit.

UMass Dartmouth utilized a balanced attack as eight batters recorded at least one hit, while every member of the starting nine reached base safely.  DiSarcina and Perron were just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle this afternoon.  DiSarcina matched his season-highs in hits (3) and RBI (3) to extend his four-game hitting streak, while Perron registered at least three base knocks for the fourth time. Senior Jose Vasquez (Roxbury, Mass.) went 2-for 4 with a walk and pair of RBI and classmate Tucker Hetherman (Webster, Mass.) ripped a three-run double into the right center field gap to stake the visitors to a 10-0 lead in the fourth inning.

First-year Chase Carey (Colchester, Vt.) (2-0) earned his second victory of the season against Keene State.  Carey came out of the bullpen to retire the first five batters he faced before giving up a double, but set down the next four in order to seal the win. Senior Ryan Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) made his sixth start of the season for the Corsairs and allowed two runs on five hits and three walks, but struck out four in four innings.

For the third consecutive contest against the Owls, UMass Dartmouth scored in its first at-bat to take an early advantage. Senior Erick Ramirez (Boston, Mass.) drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  DiSarcina laced an opposite field single into right to crack the scoring column.  DiSarcina stole second and came around two batters later, when Vasquez hit a first-pitch single into right field to stake the visitors to a 2-0 lead.

The Corsairs continued to increase their lead in the second as the visitors registered four runs on four hits.  First-year Matthew Klett (Barnstable, Mass.) was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced to third on Ramirez's single into short right field.  DiSarcina ignited the surge with a two-run double into right field, while Perron followed with an RBI triple into the right field corner to extend UMassD's advantage to 5-0. Vasquez found a hole through the left side of the infield to drive in Perron from third base to cap the scoring.

UMass Dartmouth threatened to score in the third, but Keene State cut a runner down at the plate on a fielder's choice.  However, the Corsairs loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth to chase Keene State ace senior Isaac Keehn (Norwalk, Conn.) (2-2).  UMass Dartmouth greeted relief pitcher junior Will Dolaher (Melrose, Mass.) with a sophomore Andrew Bryant (Canton, Mass.) walk, Hetherman three-run double, and Klett RBI single to take a commanding 11-0 lead.  The Owls produced their only offense of the afternoon in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a pair of runs.

The visitors evoked the 10-run rule in the seventh with a pair of runs. DiSarcina led off the frame with a triple and Perron followed with a run-producing double.  Graduate student Mitch Baker (Braintree, Mass.) singled to the second base to complete the visitors scoring.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 12:30pm on Friday, May 7, when the Corsairs host Western Connecticut State University (2-12, 2-11 LEC) in a Little East Conference doubleheader.
