Beavers Fall to Thiel in Florida Lid-Lifter

Fort Myers, Florida – The Bluffton University baseball team started off their spring games in the sunshine state with a tough 4-0 loss to Thiel College. The Tomcats improved to 1-0 on the season as the Beavers fell to 0-2.

After a scoreless first three innings, a sac bunt for the Tomcats put them on the board 1-0 first. Another hit in the sixth added a second run (2-0) to the tally for Thiel. The Tomcats topped of the shutout when two bunts in the 9th plated two runners for a final score of 4-0.

The Beavers struggled at the plate, hitting just 4-of-31. Three Beavers took the mound during the contest with Carson Curnutte (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) taking the loss after six innings with three strikeouts. Andrew Collinsworth (Westerville/Westerville South) put in two innings of work with three strikeouts with Eddie Budinski (Louisville) finishing out the final inning with one.

The Beavers are back in action tomorrow, March 7th, in Fort Myers as they face Augustana at 9am and Plymouth State at noon. Go Beavers!
