Andrew Miles Leads LVC Baseball To Win Over Heidelberg

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Andrew Miles was responsible for seven runs with four RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Lebanon Valley College baseball team to a 9-7 win over Heidelberg University on Wednesday afternoon in Port Charlotte.
 
LVC (3-4) got off to a great start with one run in the second and a big five-run third to take a 6-0 lead over Heidelberg (3-4). The Student Princes hit two home runs in the fifth and scored three runs in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead. Miles knocked in a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to give the Dutchmen back the lead and then scored the final run in the eighth.
 
Inside the Box Score

  • The three runs and four RBIs were career-highs for Miles. The junior had two hits in the game on a two-RBI single to left in the third and a two-RBI double to right center in the sixth.
  • Nico Santoro went three-for-five and scored a run. This is his second three-hit game of the week.
  • Ryan Murphy also had three hits in five at-bats while knocking in a run. The sophomore recorded the first multi-hit game of his career.
  • Dave Mangold and Mike Bulgia each extended their hitting streaks to six games with back-to-back singles in the third inning.
  • The Dutchmen drew six walks in the game and stole four bases. Both are season-highs.
  • Brady Frankland earned his first career win with 4.1 innings of relief. The first-year allowed just one earned run on one hit and one walk while striking out six.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between LVC and Heidelberg.

LVC will return to Centennial Park in Port Charlotte tomorrow afternoon to take on Wittenberg University at 4 p.m. on Field 10.
