Bluffton, OH – The Bluffton University baseball team welcomed Olivet College to Memorial Field on March 30th for a windy afternoon matchup. The Beavers secured a 2-1 victory over the Comets. Bluffton improved to 6-9 on the season while Olivet fell to 5-9.

The Beavers put a tally on the board first when a Dylan Gray double (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) plated Jack Towell (Batavia/West Clermont) in the bottom of the third. A wild pitch from the Comets in the sixth would allow Gray to steal home and secure the Beaver victory.

Starting on the mound for Bluffton and notching his second victory was junior, Jacob Boelkens (Millbury/Lake). Boelkens improved to 2-0 with his seven innings of one run pitching. Garrett O'Reilly (Galena/Orange) would see a turn on the hill in the eighth before Seth Evans (Ada/OSU-Lima) picked up his third save in his ninth inning closing relief. Leading the Beaver offense was Gray, going 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Towell was also hot at the plate going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Bluffton will be back in action on Saturday, April 2nd, when they travel to Bishop Chatard HS in Indianapolis, IN for a double-header against the Franklin College Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Go Beavers!
