The Wolves wasted no time getting on the board against the Gators on Monday. Keuka College opened the game with three straight hits in the top of the first. The third came from Ryan Seales (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) and scored Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) for the 1-0 lead. Seales and Nick Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) scored on an error to push the lead to 3-0.

Keuka College added a run in the third inning. The senior led the inning off with a double. Then with two outs, he scored from second on a wild pitch to give the Wolves the 4-0 edge. That run loomed important as Russell Sage plated three in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to one, 4-3.

Like the first, three straight hits opened the inning in the fourth for the Wolves. Donald Nemeth (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland) doubled to open the inning. Jimmy Griffin (Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) singled to score Nemeth. Griffin then came home on a double by Tyler Lewandowski (Milltown, N.J. / Spotswood).

Keuka added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Following a pair of runs by the Gators in the bottom of the inning, the Wolves added another sacrifice fly in the seventh. Kole Schmerder (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) shut the door in the bottom of the seventh for his first career save as the Wolves took the opener 8-5.

Lead Wolf: Ryan Seales continues to pace the Keuka College offense. Pushing his doubles streak to four straight games, the senior finished with a pair of hits, pair of runs scored, and drove in a run.

Russell Sage College 17 vs. Keuka College 4

Keuka College once again jumped ahead in the first inning. With one out, Nick Brown worked a walk. He then moved to second on a single by Ryan Seales and scored on a single by Brady Booher (Rochester, N.Y. / Eastridge) as the Wolves took the 1-0 lead.

The early lead would be the highlight for Keuka. Russell Sage scored six runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead. The Wolves got two back in the top of the inning on RBI singles by Shane Daley (Elma, N.Y. / Iroquois) and Matt Vaccaro, but the Gators came right back with four more in the bottom of the inning. The gap would widen as Russell Sage defeated Keuka 17-4.

Lead Wolf: Brady Booher recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season in game two. His RBI single in the first also extended his hitting streak to a personal-best four games

KC Notes:

  • The Wolves are now 2-2 all-time against Russell Sage as it is the first year of baseball for the Gators
  • The Wolves had a balanced attack in game one as eight of nine players recorded a hit and six of nine drove in a run
  • Spencer Brown (Feura Bush, N.Y. / Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) got the win in game one. The junior went six innings and struck out five
  • Despite having two more hits in game two against the Gators, Ryan Seales' doubles streak was snapped
  • Also snapped was Shane Daley's bunting streak. Game two was the first game since March in which the freshman had a plate appearance recorded but did not have a sacrifice bunt
