Andrew Miles Has Huge Day In Sweep At Albright

READING, Pa. – Andrew Miles had seven hits total including two home runs in the opener and three hits in the nightcap to lead the Lebanon Valley College baseball team to their second consecutive conference road sweep with a pair of victories at Albright College on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen also struck out 28 Lions on the afternoon including 23 from their starters. LVC won game one 14-0 and the nightcap 15-2.
 
Game 1
The Dutchmen (18-12, 6-3 MAC Commonwealth) jumped on top early as Jace Fetterman knocked in three runs with a homer to left in the first. LVC scored two more in the third and four in the fourth inning. The Dutchmen added to their lead in the sixth with two runs and three more in the eighth. Tanner Rock was brilliant on the mound holding the Lions (1-27, 0-7 MAC Commonwealth) without a hit until two outs in the eighth inning.
 
Inside the Box Score

  • Fetterman homered for his third straight game and finished with two hits and three runs scored.
  • Miles went 4-for-5 with six RBIs and three runs scored. He hit a three-run homer to left in the fourth and then a two-run shot down the leftfield line in the sixth.
  • The Dutchmen had seven different hitters record two hits in the game. Conor Smith, Duncan Weir, Nico Santoro, Fetterman, Shane Stossel, Pete Botbyl, and Luke Blair all had two hits in the game.
  • Blair had two RBIs and scored two runs. Santoro also scored twice in the game.
  • Tanner Rock was brilliant in his second straight start striking out a season-high 11 Lions in eight innings of work. He walked two and allowed just a two-out double in the eighth inning to earn his third win of the season.
  • Dylan Lower struck out one hitter in the ninth.

Game 2
LVC (19-12, 7-3 MAC Commonwealth) used big innings in the second and seventh to do most of their scoring. They scored five in the second inning and then added a run in the fourth. Albright (1-28, 0-8 MAC Commonwealth) hit a pair of solo homers for their scoring. One was on the first pitch of the sixth inning and the other was in the eighth. The Dutchmen put up a seven-spot in the seventh inning and then added two more runs in the ninth to set the final.
 
Inside the Box Score

  • Miles had another big game with three hits and three runs scored.
  • Ryan Petrucci had two hits as the only other Dutchman with a multi-hit game.
  • LVC drew a season-high 13 walks led by Botbyl with four. The outfielder also scored two runs and had two RBIs.
  • Santoro knocked in two runs with a double to right in the seventh.
  • Stossel was dominant in five innings of work striking out a career-high 12 hitters. He allowed just two hits and walked four.
  • The Dutchmen had Malachi Duka, Michael Williams, Joe DeGrazia, and Jacob Horton all throw an inning each in relief. Duka struck out two while Williams and Horton had one strikeout each. 

Who's Next
The Dutchmen will host Eastern University on Tuesday afternoon at McGill Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. against the Eagles.
