IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Mitchell College baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-2 victory over Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

In a tune-up for the upcoming NECC Championship, the Mariners climbed out of an early 2-0 hole by scoring nine unanswered runs. Angel Galindez led the charge with four hits and knocked in a pair of runs, and Justin Adorno came off the bench to add three hits.

Mitchell used six pitchers in the contest, none for longer than 2.0 innings. Kevin Vining picked up the win in relief, striking out two in 2.0 scoreless frames.

The Mighty Macs jumped in front with a pair of runs in the first inning. A single by Louis Sharp plated the game's first run while a Mitchell error led to the second.

Immaculata returned the favor in the third inning as Bo Yaworski singled to right field and later scored on an error. Mitchell then tied the game in the sixth on an RBI double by Matt Falk that scored Adorno.

The Mariners pushed across three runs in the seventh—all with two outs—to pull into the lead. Hunter Yaworski knocked in the go-ahead run with a single up the middle, and he later scored on another fielding error after Adorno singled through the right side. Falk followed with his second RBI double of the game to bump the margin to 5-2.

Galindez supplied RBI singles in both the eighth and ninth innings as the Mariners added four insurance runs over the final two frames. The Mitchell bullpen yielded only two hits and one walk over the final 7.0 innings while keeping the Mighty Macs off the scoreboard.

Mitchell (26-10 overall) will next face Eastern Nazarene College in the 2022 NECC Championship on Friday, May 6 at 12:30 p.m. The double-elimination tournament will be hosted by New England College in Henniker, N.H.
