IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Ithaca College baseball team secured its first NCAA Division III Regional title since 2013 as the Bombers handled Keystone College, 17-2, in the Immaculata Regional on Monday afternoon. With the victory, Ithaca will play in its first-ever Super Regional next weekend, May 27-28, against Catholic University – a best-of-three game series. Ithaca is now 33-12 on the season and has won eight straight games.

IC pounded out 17 hits in the victory, including three home runs, five doubles and one triple. The Bombers scored at least one run in all but one inning on the day. Eight different hitters tallied at least one hit and one RBI.

The Bombers took a 4-0 lead after the first inning as IC led off the frame with back-to-back hit by pitches to Mike Nauta and Louis Fabbo. After a wild pitch, Buzz Shirley drove in Nauta with a groundout and then Nicholas Cutaia followed with an RBI single to left to plate Fabbo. The lead grew to 4-0 as Matt Fabian blasted a two-out, two-run home run to left field.

Ithaca plated two more runs in the bottom of the second to build a 6-0 lead. Gil Merod led off with a walk and moved up to second on a passed ball. After a pair of strikeouts, Fabbo laced a double into left field to bring home Merod. Shirley then drew a hit by pitch and Cutaia followed with an RBI single to right, bringing home Fabbo.

IC continued to pile on in the third inning with two more runs, making it an 8-0 advantage. Fabian started off the inning with a single and then Ethan Rothstein was hit by a pitch. Merod then lifted a fly out to right and Fabian moved up to third. Rothstein also took off for second and a throw back from the Keystone pitcher sailed into the outfield, allowing both runners scored.

In the fifth, Nauta extended IC's lead to 9-0 with a groundout to short as Riley Brawdy, who tripled, came home.

Keystone got on the board in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 9-1 game, but the Bombers pushed home two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to establish an 11-1 lead. Connor Pedersen led off with a walk and later scored on a double to right by Fabian. Now with two outs, Brawdy ripped a double to right and Fabian jogged home for IC's 11th run of the contest.

The Bombers tacked on another run in the seventh on a solo homer to right by Shirley to make it a 12-1 lead.

In the eighth, Brawdy went deep to right after Merod led off with a double to extend the difference to 14-1. After an out was recorded, Ryan Laubscher sent a single down the left field line to plate Nauta for the 15th run. The inning continued with an RBI double from Pedersen as Fabbo scored for a 16-1 difference and Rothstein capped off the onslaught with an RBI single to center as Laubscher scored.

Keystone would score one run in the ninth for the final score of 17-2.

Colin Leyner improved to 7-0 on the year as he needed just 72 pitches to navigate through 7.0 innings with four strikeouts and one earned run allowed on four hits. Erislandy Rives tossed the eighth inning and Garrett Bell closed out the game in the ninth.

Fabian and Brawdy each had three hits and three RBI in the win, while Fabbo, Cutaia, Laubscher and Pedersen each had two hits apiece.
