Topeka, Kan. (Feb. 26, 2023) - The Buena Vista University baseball team concluded its weekend series against Bethel University with a Sunday afternoon matchup. BVU picked up a 4-3 win to secure the series victory after splitting the first two matchups on Saturday.

The Beavers got on the board early on an RBI single from Drew Taylor in the first inning, scoring brother Evan. Drew Taylor would add another RBI single in the third inning before Calvin Harris contributed an RBI single of his own to give BVU a 3-0 advantage.

Dalton Glenn received the nod on the mound for the Beavers. The right-hander was in form retiring the first six Bethel batters before allowing his first hit to begin the third inning. Glenn continued his groove, carrying a shutout into the fifth inning before a barrage of hits from Bethel (1-2) knotted the game at three apiece.

The game would remain tied heading into the seventh inning. Harris led off the inning with a base hit and advanced his way to third on a series of wild pitches. The sequence set the stage for Logan Mueller. Mueller capitalized with an RBI base hit into left field to give the Beavers a 4-3 lead. The RBI hit would prove to be all they needed as both Zack Beekmann and Harris combined for two hitless innings to close out the game.

Glenn was credited with the win after allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four across seven innings. The decision moves Glenn's record on the season to 2-0. Harris was credited with the save.

The Beavers offense was once again led by Drew Taylor and Logan Mueller. Taylor recorded game-high marks of three hits and two RBI. The efforts improved his average on the season to .500 and his team-high RBI total to 12. Mueller's heroics continued what has been a torrid start for the fifth-year. The RBI marked his fifth straight game recording a base hit and improved his team leading .522 batting average. Evan Taylor and Harris also contributed with Taylor scoring two runs on one base hit while Harris scored once, drove in a run, and tallied two base hits.

The victory marks the second straight series win for the Beavers and improves them to 5-1 overall on the year.
