WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Stevenson Baseball team was defeated by McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon.

Stevenson had a tough battle against McDaniel which was tied after six innings. The Mustangs fell short to the Green Terror 12-9 and fall to a .500 record on the young season 4-4.

Stevenson got the scoring started in the top of the first when junior Nick Tamberino singled through the left side bringing graduate student Jonathan Brandt home.

McDaniel was quick to answer back at the bottom of the second. The Green Terror scored 4 runs in chasing Mustang starting pitcher Jake Pigeon.

The Mustangs would then add three runs in the third thanks to a Brandt double and junior Amani Jones grounding out to the second basemen. These hits drove home graduate students Billy McAdam and Brandt digging into McDaniel's lead 4-3.

Three more runs were added in the fourth inning for the Mustangs, with one coming from a McAdam single, bringing home senior Trent Smoot and graduate student Tommy Holcomb. The other is from a Brandt sacrifice fly allowing senior Dylan Scott to score.

McDaniel gave it right back by scoring an additional three runs at the bottom of the fourth inning from two doubles and a single.

The battle continued as senior Elliott Schilpp singled up the middle at the top of the fifth, bringing home Tamberino. Shortly after, Holcomb cracked his first home run of the season, the fourth of his career, out to right field which also drove Schilpp still trailing 9-7.

The Mustangs mustered only one hit in the final three innings with the Green Terror holding the lead. McDaniel scored three more runs in the final three innings, which included a double and a home run, leaving the final score at 12-9.

Junior Kyle Pellegrino gave up two runs in the seventh inning handing him the loss, his record falls to 0-1.
