Kean Powers Past Swarthmore, 19-4

Port Charlotte, Fla. (3/7/23) – The Kean University baseball team powered past Swarthmore College by the final of 19-4 on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kean (9-3) got on the board first and plated two runs in the second off of RBI singles from Caleb Rodriguez and Steve PetroshTyler Provost made it 3-0 an inning later with a sac fly. 

The score remained that way until the fifth when Emmet Reynolds lofted a three run homer to tie things up at three-all.

The Cougars took the lead back for good with a six spot in the sixth.  Highlighting the action was a two RBI from Dylan Beyer

Kean didn't let up and added three more in the seventh and another six in the eighth.  The Cougars rounded out their scoring with a single run in the ninth.

In total, eight of nine starters collected a hit while eight of nine starters had an RBI.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Beyer was 4-for-6 with three RBI while Nick Houghton was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI.  Marcantonio also had a 3-for-3 day with three walks, two runs scored and two RBI. Provost finished with three hits and scored three times.

On the mound, junior Nolan Rowan improved to 2-0 after tossing seven innings allowing nine hits, and three runs (off the homer).  He struck out six.  Noah Rivera tossed the last two innings allowing just one hit and one run while fanning three.
