Mustangs Fall in Ninth to Falcons 6-5

Grantham, Pa. - Stevenson baseball falls in the ninth inning to Messiah University after coming back down 4-0. 

The Mustangs tied the game at four after being down into the seventh inning. The Mustangs took the lead in the eighth then preceded to give up a run then a walk-off double to drop the first of three to the Falcons. Stevenson returns to an even 6-6 (2-2 MACC) and Messiah improves their record to 6-7-1 (2-2 MACC).

With runners on second and third, Messiah's Thomas Zeigler laid down a sacrifice bunt to drive in Evan Wagaman who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. 

The Falcons scored two runs off a pair of doubles by Dustin Isanogle and Dylan Beard. Mustang's reliever Patrick O'Farrell entered the game as starter Matt Reich exited with an injury. 

The Mustangs got on the board in the seventh as Jonathan Brandt signed to send Dylan Scott home who himself singled to right field. Nick Tamberino walked with the bases full of Mustangs driving in Billy McAdam. Brandt would make it 4-3, scoring on a wild pitch followed by Tamberino also scoring on a wild pitch in the same at-bat tying the game. 

In the eighth, Tamberino singled to right scoring Brandt, taking the lead for the Mustangs. 

With the bases loaded for the Falcons, Joshua Ammons sent a sacrifice fly out to center field tying the game. The next at-bat Sam Zercher singled to the center field fence to win the game for Messiah 6-5. 

The Mustangs and Falcons will play tomorrow at the Owings Mills East baseball field for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
