The Presidents took the early lead in the top of the second as a groundout followed a triple for the 1-0 advantage. They added to their lead in the fourth with a sacrifice fly.

The Keuka College offense struggled against W&J. Derek Novicki (North Haven, Conn. / North Haven) reached on a strikeout wild pitch in the second. That would be Keuka's only baserunner until the sixth when Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) singled to left.

Washington and Jefferson added two runs in the top of the seventh. Josh Tryon (Elmira, N.Y. / Thomas A. Edison) led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, and RJ Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) followed with a walk. However, the Wolves would follow with three straight strikeouts to lose game one 4-0.

Lead Wolf: After missing last season due to injury, James Fino (Buffalo, N.Y. / Bishop Timon) returned to the mound for Keuka College. Fino pitched into the seventh inning, allowing just four hits and only three earned runs. The 6.1 innings pitched set a new career-high for the junior.
