FREDERICK, Md. – Tommy Moore Jr. pitched a gem and Logan Brewer hit two home runs to give the Lebanon Valley baseball team sole possession of first place in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth standings with an 11-1 win over Hood College on Thursday afternoon at Frederick Community College in the first game of the weekend series.

Brewer gave the Dutchmen (8-9-1, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) the early lead with his second home run of the year with one out in the second inning. Conor Smith and Ryan Murphy hit doubles in the fourth inning to make it a 2-0 game. Moore held Hood (10-7, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) without a hit until the fifth inning when the Blazers hit a leadoff home run to cut the deficit to 2-1. LVC responded in the top of the sixth as Brewer hit his second home run of the game to right field.

The Dutchmen pulled away with a big eight-run seventh inning. Nico Santoro started the rally with a single to center. Andrew Miles singled and then Jace Fetterman walked to load the bases. Shane Stossel cleared the bases with a double to left field and then after a pitching change Conor Smith blasted a two-run homer to right to make it 8-1. Dave Mangold kept the inning alive with a two-out double and Ryan Murphy drew a walk. Duncan Weir drove them in with a double down the right field line and then scored on a Santoro infield single to second base.
