ANNVILLE, Pa. – Nico Santoro had four hits and Shane Stossel had five RBI including a big grand slam to give the Lebanon Valley baseball team an 11-1 victory over Messiah University on Tuesday afternoon at McGill Field in a big Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth matchup.

Santoro wasted little time putting the Dutchmen (10-10-1, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth) on the board with a leadoff single in the first. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a Logan Brewer groundout to the right side. Stossel then singled him home with a two-out hit to right. LVC increased the lead to 3-1 in the second as Andrew Miles reached on a throwing error and then scored on a Dave Mangold double to the gap in right center. Ryan Murphy singled to left to score Mangold. Messiah (9-11-1, 5-5 MAC Commonwealth) scored a run on two hits in the third to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Dutchmen responded by loading the bases in the bottom of the inning on a Jace Fetterman walk, a Brewer single, and a Stossel walk. Fetterman scored on a Conor Smith groundball up the middle that the Falcon shortstop made a nice play on to turn two. LVC extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth as Santoro singled to center with one out to score Mangold from second. The score remained the same until the seventh when the Dutchmen scored the final six runs of the game. Miles and Mangold were hit by pitches to begin the inning. Ryan Murphy laid down a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt to move the runners over. Duncan Weir knocked in Miles with a sacrifice fly to right and then Santoro singled to center to score Mangold. After Fetterman was hit by a pitch and Brewer walked to load the bases Stossel came up and crushed his fifth home run of the year just underneath the scoreboard in left.
