Mustangs Fall 12-7 to Conference Foe York

Owings Mills, Md. - The Stevenson University baseball team fell to York College 12-7 Friday afternoon at Owings Mills East. 

Tommy Holcomb homered in the third inning but the Mustangs gave up five runs in the ninth to seal the game for the Spartans. With the victory, York improves to 10-10 (6-4 MACC) overall with the Mustangs falling to 10-7 (4-3 MACC). 

York struck first in the top of the second bringing in four runs off starting pitcher Matt Reich. Tommy Holcomb would answer with a solo drive over the right field fence. 

With the bases loaded in the third, Nick Tamberino singled through the left side, scoring Billy McAdam

In the fourth, with a runner on, Robby Elzinga hit a home run to right center, increasing the Spartan advantage to 6-2. 

The Mustangs made it a one-run game in the sixth as Jonathan Brandt doubled to left center scoring McAdam

Later in the ninth inning, York's Chris Betler hit a three-run homerun increasing their lead to 12-5.

Trevor Smoot and Holcomb both walked in the ninth before a pair of doubles hit by Trent Smoot and Dylan Scoot brought them home.

The Mustangs and York meet again on Sunday, April 2 for a doubleheader on Jaquet field beginning at 12:00 p.m.
