SEGUIN, TEXAS – Sophomore outfielder Koy Carpenter singled and drove in a run, and the final four McMurry University pitchers to take the mound didn't allow a run in non-conference action Wednesday, April 26.

The La Vernia, Texas native, producing at least one hit for the seventh time in his last ten games, drove home fellow sophomore outfielder Xavier Escobar (Buda, Texas) in the second inning to tie up host Texas Lutheran University 1-1. Head coach Josh Lee's bullpen closed out the contest with a four-inning resume of no runs or hits allowed with four strikeouts and just three walks surrendered from the quartet of sophomore Grayson Winter (Buda, Texas), freshman Hunter Poe (Midland, Texas), junior Dylan Schafer (Cibolo, Texas), and sophomore Dalton Enberg (Llano, Texas).

However, TLU managed to strike for a seven-run attack in the bottom of the fourth, leading the way to an 8-2 decision. Despite falling to 13-24 on the season, the Maroon and White also added a double from junior outfielder Tommy Cardenas (Bandera, Texas) and a stolen base from sophomore outfielder Casey Turner (Kingwood, Texas) to their offensive output.

The War Hawks wind up their season Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29. Hardin-Simmons comes to Walt Driggers Field for a single game Friday at 7 p.m., and a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. McMurry's Class of 2023 will be honored between games Saturday.
