CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland rallied from a 9-1 deficit with four innings remaining to defeat Oswego, 12-10, and Anthony Fusco (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) tossed a complete-game six-hitter in the Red Dragons' 3-1 win over Brockport in a pair of elimination games during Saturday's action at the SUNYAC baseball tournament.

With the victories, the nationally 25th-ranked and top-seeded host Red Dragons (32-10) have forced a winner-take-all championship game against second-seeded Brockport (27-16) Sunday at noon. The winner will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.

Cortland 12, Oswego 10

Cortland trailed 9-1 to the fourth-seeded Lakers entering the bottom of the sixth and were down 10-5 before scoring seven times in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead.

The Red Dragons sent 10 batters to the plate in the eighth before an out was recorded. The rally started with singles by Matthew Krafft (Cornwall) and Dylan Tierney (East Greenbush/Columbia) to put runners on first and third. Kameron Hartenstein (Meriden, CT/Maloney) hit a grounder back to the pitcher and Krafft was caught off third, but the throw trying to get Krafft retreating back to third was wild allowing both Krafft and Tierney to score.

After an Andrew Michalski (Buffalo/St. Francis) single, Chris Bonacci (Syracuse/West Genesee) singled to drive in a run, and Nick Chemotti (Warners/West Genesee) followed with a game-tying two-run double to left center. Mat Bruno (Rye) bunted for a hit, Adam Mieczkowski (Vestal) hit an RBI double, and Bruno eventually scored on a wild pitch. The Red Dragons later had the bases loaded with still no outs before Oswego reliever Ryan Paige escaped further damage with a strikeout and a double play grounder.

Oswego got the potential tying run into scoring position in the top of the ninth. Julian Drew singled to start the inning. Liam Krasney (Earlton/Greenville) entered in relief and struck out a batter before Trey McGowan's single put runners on first and second. A balk moved the runners to second and third, but Krasney locked down the save with a strikeout and a groundout.

Nick Reiser (Nahant, MA/Swampscott), Cortland's fourth of five relievers, earned his first win of the season after allowing a run on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two innings.

Krafft finished 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. Mieczkowski was 3-for-5 with a solo homer in the sixth, a double and two RBI, and Hartenstein was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Chemotti ended 2-for-5 with a triple, double, two RBI and two runs, Michalski went 2-for-4 and Bruno finished 2-for-5 as Cortland ended with 18 hits.

Jacob Levine led Oswego with three hits, including two homers, along with a walk, six RBI and two runs. He hit a grand slam in the sixth to give the Lakers the 9-1 lead and added a solo homer in the eighth. Tim Schinto hit a two-run double and scored twice and Blake Van Dreason and Owen Parliament each had two hits and an RBI. Anthony Van Fossen took the loss as Oswego's second reliever, giving up four runs on five hits after entering the game during the eighth inning.

Cortland 3, Brockport 1

Fusco, making his first start since April 1, threw the first complete game in his two seasons as a Red Dragon. He struck out four batters and walked two. Fusco allowed two hits each in the first two innings but settled down to allow only three baserunners over the final seven innings. Ryan Voight walked to lead off the fourth, moved to second on a bunt and to third on a passed ball. Johnny Genau bunted for a single, with Voight holding at third, and Fusco struck out the next batter to end the threat. Zach Eldred doubled with one out in the eighth but was stranded at third.

Brockport took a 1-0 lead in the second. Justin Pangburn hit a one-out double in the third when a short fly ball fell in between the shortstop and left fielder. He stole third and eventually scored on David Belsito's two-out single to left.

Cortland knotted the game in the third when Tierney led off with a walk and later scored from third on a Bruno RBI double to left. The Red Dragons grabbed the lead in the fifth as Bonacci doubled with two outs and scored on a Chemotti RBI single up the middle. Cortland picked up an insurance run in the seventh when Michalski hit a homer to left center - his first career homer in 174 collegiate games with the Red Dragons.

Brockport starter Matthew Colucci, after earning a save versus Cortland on Friday, went five and a third innings and gave up two runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
