Five BW Baseball Players Tabbed to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 7 Team

BEREA, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University baseball players have been selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Region 7 team.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference first baseman Alexis Castillo (Sunrise, Fla./The Sagemont School) was named to the first team. Senior All-OAC right-handed pitcher Garrett Miller (McMurray, Pa.) and sophomore All-OAC infielder Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) were both tabbed to the second team. Senior All-American infielder Luke Vonderhaar (New Breman) and senior All-OAC outfielder Vincent Capolupo (Kenmore, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate) both earned third team honors.

Castillo earns his second All-Region honors of the season having previously been named to the d3baseball.com All-Region team. This is his first ABCA/Rawlings honors of his career. On the season Castillo, he is hitting .340 with a .470 on-base percentage a .616 slugging percentage. He has collected 76 hits, 17 doubles, eight home runs, 42 runs scored, 56 RBIs and two stolen bases. He was named OAC Hitter of the Week twice this season and landed on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week once.

In his career, Castillo is a .393 hitter with a .455 on-base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage. He has totaled 140 hits, 30 doubles, 14 home runs, 80 runs scored and 102 RBIs. 

Miller also earns his second All-Region honors after previously being tabbed to the D3baseball.com All-Region 7 second team. Miller is tied for the program record with nine wins and a perfect an 9-0 record on the mound with two saves. He made 19 appearances and picked up six starts. He pitched 76.2 innings with a 3.76 earned run average (ERA). He has allowed 32 runs on 71 hits with 23 walks and limited batters to a .243 batting average. He is third in the OAC with 71 strikeouts. Miller was also selected to the OAC All-Tournament this season.

In his career, Miller has made 43 appearances and started 12 games on the mound. He has posted a 15-3 record with four saves. In 135.1 innings, he has allowed 65 runs, 64 earned, on 129 hits and 41 walks. He has thrown one complete game and struck out 123 batters. He has a career ERA is 4.26. Miller also earned the BW Baseball Most Outstanding Freshman Award in 2019. 

Kolenich earns the first All-Region 7 honors of his career. He has set the program record for hits and singles in a season. He is also the first player since 1988 with six hits in a game after going 6-for-7 in the Super Regional Championship against Aurora (Ill.) University, On the season, Kolenich he is hitting .407 with a .453 on-base percentage and a .526 slugging percentage. He has 85 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 53 runs scored, 39 RBIs and nine stolen bases.

In his career, Kolenich is a .365 hitter with a .435 on-base percentage and a .511 slugging percentage. He has totaled 144 hits, 27 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 104 runs scored, 91 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. He was named to the Brockport (N.Y.) NCAA All-Regional Tournament team in 2022.

Vonderhaar has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 7 team for the second consecutive season. This season, Vonderhaar has a .339 batting average with a .433 on-base percentage and a .552 slugging percentage. He collected 65 hits, 20 doubles, seven home runs, he has 55 runs scored and 47 RBIs. He also swiped seven stolen bases this season. 

In his career, Vonderhaar is hitting .335 with a .421 on-base percentage and a .593 slugging percentage. He has 181 hits, 43 doubles, 2 triples, 31 home runs, 144 runs scored and 151 RBIs. He was named an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America third team recipient, a D3baseball.com All-American fourth team honoree, an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region first team selection, a D3baseball.com All-Region first team selection, the Brockport (N.Y.) NCAA All-Regional Tournament MVP and he was named to the 2022 OAC All-Tournament team.   

Off the field, Vonderhaar was the NCAA Elite 90 Award Winner for the 2022 season, a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American, a CoSIDA Academic All-Region selection, a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Dayton C. Miller and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries. 

Capolupo earns his second straight ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 7 honors. Capolupo holds a .311 on the season with a .405 on-base percentage and a .440 slugging percentage. He has 65 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 49 runs scored, 42 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.

For his career, Capolupo is a .336 hitter with a .416 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage. He has collected 152 hits, 30 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 120 runs scored, 82 RBIs and 31 stolen bases. He has been named an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region second team selection, a D3baseball.com All-Region 7 honoree and was named to the OAC All-Tournament team in 2022. 

Off the field, Capolupo is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection, a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

BW returns to the diamond on Friday, June 2nd to take on Endicott (Mass.) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III College World Series on the Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 2:15 p.m.
