BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Allegheny College baseball team earned its third Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) sweep of the 2023 campaign, as the Gators defeated Geneva College by scores of 14-6 and 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Although there were several noteworthy performances from the Gators (15-13, 8-4 PAC) against the Golden Tornadoes (12-19, 5-9 PAC), Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel (Texas)) stole the show by slugging three home runs. All three hits from the outfielder left the yard, as Bryant-Dawson finished the twin bill 3-for-7 with six RBIs and six runs scored.

Allegheny 14, Geneva 6
Geneva finished the early game with more hits, 14-to-13, but the Gators took advantage of 12 free passes and four errors. After loading the bases and scoring on a sac fly in the first inning, Allegheny put up three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and four more in the fifth. The Gators led by as many as 12 runs, before the Golden Tornadoes finally got on the scoreboard.

Leading 4-0, Bryant-Dawson launched his first home run of the day, a three-run shot, over the wall in left field in the fourth inning. In the following frame, Matt Jennings (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) plated two with a base knock, and two more came around to score on an error throw by the Geneva shortstop.

With a comfortable lead, Brent Herrmann (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) found a groove on the mound. He looked strong after retiring seven in a row, but the Golden Tornadoes got to him for three runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Despite the six runs, Herrmann more than qualified for the win with 6.1 innings and a game-high five strikeouts.

With the lead cut to 12-6, Bryant-Dawson ended any hopes of a Geneva comeback with another two-run bomb in the top of the ninth.

Allegheny 7, Geneva 0
While the Allegheny offense got going early in the first game, the nightcap started with five scoreless innings. Fortunately for the Gators, Ryan Conover was unable to match the goose egg from Mark Schweickert (Glen Allen, Va./John Randolph Tucker) in the sixth.

Geneva decided to load the bases with an intentional walk to Bryant-Dawson in the top of the sixth. On the first pitch of the ensuing at-bat, Brady Nolin (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) ended the shutout with a two-run base hit. Allegheny added one more in the sixth on a balk, and Bryant-Dawson hit his third homer of the day in the eighth to make it a 4-0 lead. An RBI double from Alejandro Samayoa (Katonah, N.Y./John Jay Cross River) highlighted a three-run ninth for the Gators.

Schweickert, who struck out eight and walked six in 7.2 innings, teamed with John Doney (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) and Daniel Morgano (Allison Park, Pa./Vincentian Academy) for the shutout on the mound.
