Benedictine Moves to 7-0

The Benedictine University baseball team improved to 5-0 on the trip to Florida and 7-0 overall by leading nearly the entire game in a 6-2 victory over Hope on Saturday.

Ryan Doubek led off the game with a single and stole second. Kevin Bushnell stayed hot but roping a one-out single to give Benedictine the lead. Hope was able to tie the game in the bottom of the first but a double from Chase Hanselman scored Jake Petak and the go-ahead run. Benedictine went on to add three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Eight different individuals posted hits in the game. Bushnell notched two. Eddie Wilson made his first appearance of the year and worked five innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on three hits. Dean Rokkas closed out the game by tossing the final four innings to earn the save,

Benedictine (7-0) plays a big game with Webster on Sunday at 2:45pm Central. Webster defeated Benedictine last year and ultimately that win led to Webster receiving the final at-large berth to the NCAA field from the region.
