Benedictine Finishes Trip Unbeaten

The Benedictine University baseball team will come home from Florida unbeaten after completing the journey with a 13-1 victory in a shortened contest.

Benedictine scored four runs in the third and five in the fourth to take control early. Leading 9-1, the team plated four runs in the sixth to give other players a chance to appear on the journey.

The contest saw 22 players take to the field. DeShawnte Carraway finished 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs. Chase Hanselman knocked home three. Eight players tallied hits. Five of the 10 hits in the contest went for extra bases.

Andrew Kurcz, who started his trip with seven blank innings, earned the win with four shutout frames, allowing just one hit. Nathan Buehrer, Kash Koslowski and Brock Bevil all worked an inning.

Benedictine (9-0) finished the trip south with a perfect 7-0 mark and will head to Millikin this weekend for three games with the possibility of receiving a national ranking.
