The Basics

Score: Randolph-Macon 6, Marymount 3

Venue: Capital One Park

Records: RMC 7-3, MU 11-2

How It Happened:

  • The Yellow Jackets used a pair of two-out hits to get on the board in the top of the first. Senior Richie Dudley (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) had a leadoff single and went to second on a walk to freshman Jon Quici (Philadelphia, Pa./Conestoga). With two away, Dudley stole third. A single by senior Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) knocked in Dudley with the game's first run. Sophomore Nathan Chen (South Riding, Va./Freedom) had a double to bring home Quici and Webb to make it 3-0.
  • After the Saints plated one in the third, RMC had another big two-out hit in the fourth. Sophomore Eli Brooks (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) drew a one-out walk and stole second. Quici and junior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) drew two-out walks to load the bases. Junior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./The Miller School) singled to right to drive in Brooks and Quici to extend the lead to 5-1.
  • Freshman Carter Schuma (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) pitched the first three innings, allowing five hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts.
  • Stanley took over on the mound in the fourth and worked three scoreless innings with three hits, three walks and three punchouts to raise his record to 2-1.
  • The Yellow Jackets added to their lead in the sixth. Dudley had a leadoff walk, stole second, went to third on an error, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lautenschlager as the advantage grew to 6-1.
  • MU put up two in the seventh and had two on with two away. Junior Bere Bauers (Phoenixville, Pa./Devon Prep) came in and got a strikeout looking to end the threat. The Saints had a leadoff single in the eighth, but Bauers got a fielder's choice, a strikeout and an interference call to keep it at 6-3.
