Big Hits Lead Allegheny to 17-7 Win Over Hiram

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College baseball team broke out the bats in a big way on a sunny Monday afternoon at Robert M. Garbark Field en route to a 17-7 victory over Hiram College.

Allegheny (17-7) scored at least one run in all seven innings of the mercy-rule-shortened game and posted crooked numbers in five innings. As a team, the Gators produced 10 extra-base hits with seven doubles, tied for the third-most in a game in team history, and three home runs.

Individually, Brady Nolin (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) tied an Allegheny record for the most doubles in a game with three, as the slugging third baseman finished 3-for-3 with a team-high four RBIs. Nolin is the sixth Gator to log three doubles in a game, and the second to do so against Hiram; Andy Schleihauf '10 hit a trio of two-baggers in a 9-1 win over the Terriers on April 2, 2010.

The Gators started and ended Monday's non-conference victory with the long ball. Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel (Texas)) led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot to left field. In the seventh, Anthony Maslo (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), who entered as a defensive sub at second base, crushed a two-run homer to right in his only at-bat that gave Allegheny a 10-run advantage, meeting the requirements for the mercy-rule win. JD Robinson (Round Hill, Va./Woodgrove) was responsible for Allegheny's third dinger, a solo home run as part of a three-run fourth inning.
