Mustangs score three in seventh inning in loss to Saints

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson baseball (2-3) scored three runs in the seventh inning against the Marymount University Saints (6-0) on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The final score was 7-3.
 
The Mustangs managed their first hit in the bottom of the second when first-year outfield Christopher Manco ran for a single. On an error in the bottom of the third, junior infield Brandon Perillo reached first base. The Saints got on the board first in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs.
 
In the bottom of the seventh, Manco singled to left field and picked up an RBI. Junior first baseman Anthony D'Angeli advanced to second and sophomore outfield Kaige Garrity scored on the hit. Later in the inning, Perillo picked up an RBI allowing D'Angeli to score. The final run arrived when junior catcher Matt Perri was hit by a pitch, allowing Manco to return home.
 
For the afternoon, the Mustangs picked up three total RBI, four walks, and seven hits. Pitching for the Mustangs, first-year Jake Treasure struck out seven on six hits and four runs.
 
The Mustangs remain at home as they enter the weekend with a doubleheader against Franciscan University on Saturday, March 2 beginning at noon.
