Penn State Harrisburg Earns At-Large Selection to NCAAs, Set to Host Regional Round Action

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – No. 11/12 Penn State Harrisburg has been selected to the 2024 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament beginning this weekend. Penn State Harrisburg earned one of 19 at-large bids and has been chosen as a Regional host site, with competition set to begin on Friday morning, May 17.

 

Penn State Harrisburg is set to host a four-team, double-elimination regional this weekend, with the Lions (34-9) drawing Bridgewater State (26-14) in their opening contest. They will also be joined in the region by No. 19/21 Randolph-Macon (28-13) and Elizabethtown (31-12).

 

Penn State Harrisburg and Bridgewater State will open regional play on Friday morning at 10 a.m., with Randolph-Macon and Elizabethtown to follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule includes three games tentatively scheduled for 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., respectively. A regional champion will be crowned on Sunday, with the sixth game of the weekend beginning at 11 a.m. and an if-necessary contest to follow if need be.

 

 

This season, the Lions matched the single-season program record for wins, captured the United East Volt Division Championship, and finished as the United East runner-up. Penn State Harrisburg is making its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth overall. The program is also serving as a regional round host for the second consecutive year.
