AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Sophomore Robert Nathan recorded his first career no-hitter as the William Paterson baseball team (9-3) coasted to a 13-0 win against Framingham State (1-3) in seven innings at the RussMatt Invitational March 16. The game was called after seven innings due to the mercy rule.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With two outs and a runner on third in the top of the first, sophomore Ty Kobylakiewicz ripped an RBI double into left to put the Pioneers ahead early, 1-0.
- A pair of singles by sophomore Stephen Kubis and junior Jordan Brown in the second inning set up senior Eliot Germanson for a two-RBI double to right center to extend the WP lead to three (3-0). The Pioneers tacked on an additional run in the inning following a costly error by Framingham State.
- Senior Braden Ramirez led off the third with a double before Kobylakiewcz drove him in with a two-bagger of his own. A base hit by Kubis put Pioneers on the corners, allowing Brown to drive in a run with a double to right center.
- After loading the bases, a run crossed on a fielder's choice before sophomore Devin Daproza ripped an RBI single to make it a nine-run game (9-0). Another fielding mishap by the Rams allowed a WP run to score in the inning.
- In the sixth, senior Tom Radigan delivered an RBI base hit for the Pioneers' 11th run of the afternoon.
