Kalamazoo Defeats Alma to Advance to MIAA Tournament Championship

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team advanced to Friday's MIAA Tournament championship game with an 11-0 win over Alma College in the winner's bracket on Thursday.

Kalamazoo scored a run in each of the first two innings and carried that 2-0 lead through the fourth. The Hornets exploded for nine runs in the fifth, capped off by Ryar Rinehart's 3-run home run to left field to make it 11-0.

Jacob Davis allowed just two hits in seven innings for the shutout win after picking up the save in yesterday's win over Adrian. Davis struck out seven and walked five today against Alma.

Daniel Beccari was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Ryar Rinehart finished with two hits including the 3-run homer.

Tanner Hawkins also had two hits and three RBIs. Logan Lockhart also had two hits.

Cooper Mills had a hit, a stolen base, two RBIs and two runs scored in the leadoff spot.

Kalamazoo's opponent in Friday's 12 p.m. championship game will be determined Thursday evening. If a second game is necessary on Friday, that game would be played immediately after the first game.
