Sedalis Hits 3 Home Runs to Lead #15 Rowan Over Catholic, 20-4, to Claim Mount Union Regional

ALLIANCE, OHIO - Phil Sedalis hit three home runs and #15 Rowan scored in every inning as the Profs defeated Catholic, 20-4,  to win the NCAA Mount Union Regional. The Profs (34-10) now advance to the NCAA Super Regional on May 23-24 against the winner of the Lynchburg Regional.

It is Rowan's fourth Regional title and trip to the Super Regional under head coach Mike Dickson as the Profs last appeared in the 2023 Salisbury Super Regional. Rowan will be looking for its first trip to the NCAA Division III World Series since 2021.

Sedalis was named the MVP of the Regional and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Tyler Cannon, Zach Coluccio, Mike Shannon and Karson Harcourt.

The Profs' offense dominated the Regional as they scored 46 runs in the last two games and outscored their opponents in the three games by a 55-14 margin.

Sedalis' three homer effort was one shy of the Rowan record, when Jim McAllister hit four home runs against Delaware State in 1989, and gave him a team-high 16 on the season. The senior finished the game 4-for-6 with four runs scored and a career-high seven RBI.

Cannon went 4-for-6 with four runs and an RBI, Jason Morgan, Chris Serrano and Damon Suriani each had three hits and Brayden Davis had three RBI and scored two runs.

Coluccio (8-2) threw 7.1 strong innings and allowed just two runs while striking out seven. Mark Grubb and Thomas Sullivan closed out the game for the Profs.

Catholic (29-18) again took the first lead of the game, 1-0, but Rowan quickly passed that in their first at-bat. Jason Morgan hit a two-run single to score Sedalis and Cannon and Brayden Davis singled with Morgan rounding the bases and scoring after a Catholic error.

Sedalis hit his first homer of the game in the second, a three-run shot that scored Harcourt and Cannon, and built Rowan's lead up to 6-1.

A two-run triple from Davis and a single from Joey Bogart accounted for three runs in the fourth and an 11-1 lead. Sedalis pushed the advantage to 13-1 with his second homer, a two-run shot to bring home Cannon. The Profs tacked on one in the sixth as Serrano tripled score Suriani, who led off with a single.

The Profs reached the 20-run mark for the second straight game vs. Catholic as they posted six runs in the seventh. Sedalis got things going as he sent a pitch over the fence in left center to score Cannon. Davis earned an RBI on a  fielder's choice, while Serrano, Harcourt and Cannon each hit RBI singles to give Rowan a 20-2 lead.
