D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, honoring performers at each position from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the twelfth Team of the Week of the 2017 season.

C  Chris Zapata, Jr., Centenary (La.)

Zapata may have delivered the biggest hit in Gents history. With Centenary playing in the SCAC championship game Sunday afternoon with the bases loaded top of the first, Zapata blasted the first pitch he saw for the second Gents grand slam of the season. He broke the single-season record for RBI's with a two-run home in game one on Sunday and the career RBI record with the shot in game two. He finished the week 8-for-16 (.500), three runs, eight RBIs, three doubles and the two home runs.

1B  Brennan Cotter, Jr., Catholic

Cotter, batted .533 (8-for-15) this week including four home runs and 11 RBIs for the Cardinals. He scored four times as he played the week without an error in the field.

2B  Brian Killinger, Sr., Adrian

Killinger produced a .563/.588/.813 slashline and led Adrian with seven runs batted in to help the Bulldogs claim their ninth MIAA championship in a row. He also scored six times, had three sacrifice bunts and was perfect in the field on 15 total chances.

SS  Max McCoomb, Sr., St. Joseph's (Maine)

McCoomb returned from an injury in a big way, hitting .643 (9-for-14) with a 1.143 slugging percentage, six runs, two doubles, a triple, a home run, and eight RBI in four games. In his first start since suffering the injury, the senior shortstop went 4-4 with two runs, a triple, and four RBI in a lopsided victory over Norwich. He was also flawless in the field, handling 17 chances without a miscue.

3B  Joey Fredrickson, Fr., Bethel

Fredrickson went 5-for-7 (.714) at the plate this week with one home run, two doubles, and two singles (1.429 slugging percentage). His production also led to two runs scored and four RBIs.

OF  Malcolm Kelsey, Sr., St. John Fisher

Kelsey came up with 10 hits in 19 at-bats (.526) as the No. 15 Cardinals went 4-1 on the week with four wins in Empire 8 play. In four starts, he had two doubles and three home runs. Overall, the senior drove in 10 runs and scored five of his own while slugging 1.105 on the week.

OF  Jake Raynaud, Sr., Whittier

Raynaud saved his best performance till the end of the season as he lifted Whittier in taking two of three from La Verne. Over the three games he hit .571 (8-for-14) with a slugging percentage of 1.429, the highest of his career as he totaled four home runs. He also accumulated 10 runs batted in, four runs scored and eight hits.

OF  Daniel Zeglen, So., Rochester Tech

Zeglen hit .727 (8-for-11) with an .824 on-base percentage (14-for-17), five runs scored, four walks, a double, triple, home run, and eight RBIs, while slugging 1.273 as RIT went 5-1 on the week and clinched its first Liberty League regular season championship. Zeglen also fired a four-hit, 102-pitch nine-inning masterpiece on Sunday in game two, a 5-0 win over St. Lawrence, for his first collegiate shutout.

DH  Brandyn Olsen, Sr., Bethany Lutheran

In three games played, Olsen went 10-for-14 (.714) at the plate as the Vikings went 3-0. The senior recorded three home runs, three doubles, 11 RBIs, and eight runs scored. In addition, the senior recorded two wins on the mound to improve to 8-0 with a 1.94 ERA.

SP  R.J. Brown, Jr., St. Mary's (Minn.)

Brown tossed his second no-hitter of the season, allowing just three walks in helping Saint Mary's to 4-0 win over Carleton last Friday. Brown is the 1st Saint Mary's pitcher in two decades to throw a no-hitter and the first in program history to have two no-hitters in a season.

SP  Greg Schneider, Jr., Frostburg State

Schneider struckout a career-best batters in the first game of doubleheader against Mount Aloysius. Schneider fanned 15 of the 23 batters faced as Frostburg posted a 10-1 win over the Mounties. He allowed just three hits and one earned run.

SP  Matt Tulley, Sr., UMass-Boston

In his lone start of the week, Tulley pitched 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed two hits against Plymouth State. Against the Panthers, Tulley struck out eight and walked just one.

RP  Will Bryant, So., Endicott

Bryant was pivotal to Endicott's 7-0 week as the sophomore closer shut the door on four games, including three conference wins to help the Gulls secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament. Bryant logged 6.1 innings alongside three hits, one run, two walks, and four strikeouts.
