Titans To Clash With Eagles In WIAC Tournament Opener

UW-Oshkosh opens against regular-season champion UW-La Crosse at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Baseball Tournament on Friday (May 11) in La Crosse. The Eagles (30-9) are ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III by D3baseball.com.

The Titans (14-21) and Eagles will begin the double-elimination tournament at 10 a.m. UW-Oshkosh is seeded fourth in the bracket, while UW-La Crosse is first. During league play on April 14-15, UW-La Crosse took four games against UW-Oshkosh, with each victory coming by one run.

UW-La Crosse finished the WIAC schedule with 17 straight wins. The Eagles' 21-2 conference record was the league's best since 1999.

UW-Oshkosh posted a 10-14 WIAC record for fourth place. The Titans have 10 of their defeats this year by one run.

In the other first-round meeting, second-seeded UW-Whitewater (26-13) faces third-seeded UW-Stevens Point (27-13). The losers of the first two contests will meet Friday afternoon in an elimination game.

There will be three tournament games on Saturday (May 12), and one on Sunday (May 13) if necessary. The winner of the WIAC Tournament advances to the NCAA Division III Championship.
