Mississippi College had to come from behind twice to pick up a doubleheader sweep of No. 25 Huntingdon at Frierson Field. In the first game, the Choctaws scored two unearned runs on back-to-back errors by the Hawks to pick up a 4-3 in seven innings. In the second game, Mississippi College needed six runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings, and the game-winning run came around to score in the 11th inning on another error by Huntingdon.
Brandon Nemeti pitched four scoreless innings and Michael DeCarr drove in two runs as Cortland State defeated non-league foe SUNYIT, 7-3, in the Red Dragons' home opener. Nemeti, the Red Dragon starter, allowed three hits and one walk with five strikeouts over four innings. He was awarded the win since Cortland predetermined that it would throw at least three pitchers and Nemeti left the game with a 6-0 lead. Travis Laitar gave up two hits and struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief.
A pair of home runs lead Centenary (La.) to a 14-12 win over No. 3 Trinity (Texas) to extend its advantage in SCAC action. No. 11 Saint Joseph's (Maine) split a non-conference baseball
doubleheader with Roger Williams at Larry Mahaney Diamond. The
Monks suffered an extra-inning 1-0 loss in the opener and rebounded
to defeat the Hawks by a 3-0 margin in the nightcap. Roger
Williams, which entered the day having never defeated Saint
Joseph's in the 12-game history of the match-up, dealt St. Joe's a
difficult defeat in the first game, as the visitors plated an
unearned run in the top of the ninth to knock off the Monks. Nick
