Horn and LBC part ways

More news about: Lancaster Bible

After seven years as the Lancaster Bible College Baseball Head Coach, TJ Horn and Lancaster Bible have agreed to part ways, as Horn transitions to a job outside of the college.

Horn, the all-time leader in wins in program history, became only the third coach in the entire college's history to win 100 games this past season, as he eclipsed the mark on April 20 with a 6-3 victory over Keuka.

Lancaster Bible advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs twice during Horn's tenure, including for the first time in program history in 2016, and again this past season.

Horn coached numerous NEAC All-Conference selections, and three D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region selections, Matt Taliercio, Justin Taylor and Will Welsh.

"I am very grateful for my time at Lancaster Bible, and will greatly miss the staff, as well as the players," Horn said. "Each one of them has had an influence on my life and I'm glad to take away nothing but positive memories. I wish them all the best in the future, and I look forward to cheering on the Lancaster Bible baseball program."

Over seven seasons (2011, '13-18), Horn posted an overall record of 106-123-1 (.463), and led the Chargers to three straight winning seasons ('16-'18), which had never happened before in the program's 39-year history.

In addition to his coaching career at Lancaster Bible, Horn is also one of the most decorated players in the program's history, as he was a two-time NCCAA 1st Team All-American ('07, '08), and hit .495 during both his junior and senior seasons.

"TJ was a very good baseball player, and played for a program that wasn't very good," Lancaster Bible Director of Athletics Pete Beers said. "Since taking over as head coach, TJ has made this program, an actual NCAA Division III baseball program, and for that we are very thankful. He has left his mark twice on this program, once as a player, and once as a coach. We had 12 players on the roster when TJ began, and he leaves with a program close to 30. His hard work and effort has helped build this program to what it is today."

A search for a new baseball coach will begin immediately.
