No. 6 Rowan (1-0) kicked off the 2019 season with a dominant 25-3 win at Stevens on Sunday. Shortstop Dillon Mendel was five-for-eight with four runs batted in. Catcher Steven Hewa scored four times and had two hits. Second baseman Alex Kokos add three hits and three runs. Designated hitter Mitch Walker totaled four RBIs on two hits. Right-hander Danny Serreino earned the win for Rowan, pitching 3.2 innings allowing no hits and striking out five batters. Left-hander Drew Ryback tossed two frames and struck out two. Right-hander Andrew DiPiazza pitched two innings and fanned five batters. Right-hander Andrew Cartier closed the game in the ninth and contributed two
Saturday was about pitching, but Sunday was about offense as John Carroll scored 35 runs over the course of two games to sweep the Allegheny Gators, 22-11 and 13-4, in a doubleheader played at Eppling Stadium in Beckley, West Virginia. The Blue Flash had 42 hits to go along with eight free passes. Nine extra-base hotes were hit by eight John Carroll batters.
No. 16 Webster used seven strong innings from junior righthander Matt Mulhearn and three unearned runs to post a 4-1 victory over Transylvania in its 2019 season opener for both teams at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. With the win, Webster has now won six consecutive openers. Mulhearn, who got the start in the opener for the Gorloks, scattered five hits over seven innings and allowed just one run, while walking one and striking out three in his 96 pitch outing. Mulhearn is now 11-4 in his collegiate career and in 119.1 innings of work, he has struck out 105 and walked 31. The 11 wins are tied for 17th most on the school's all-time chart.
After receiving multiple inches of rain Friday and Saturday, Rhodes worked hard to get the field ready for a three-game series against Wabash. The games would be the first of the season for the Little Giants who, like Rhodes, was one game away from the 2018 College World Series. Rhodes found themselves down 2-0 until the Lynx plated six runs on seven hits in the fifth. In the sixth, the Lynx scored another three runs on two hits, two walks, a hit by pitch and a sac fly. Wabash managed to cross another run in the ninth on two hits and a fielding error by the Lynx. Defensively, Jacob Telli caught three Little Giants trying to steal. At second base, Jon Michael Lauck made two diving plays to keep the ball in the infield and retiring each batter at first base. Rhodes turned two double plays, one including pitcher, Jacob Tubs, on a 1-6-3, the other on a grounder to third base (5-4-3).At the plate, Rhodes tallied 12 hits including a triple by freshman Ben Wilson. On the mound, Dubs earned his second win of the season after striking out six in 6.2 innings of work. Matt Dale came in for the Lynx and threw five K's in 2.1 innings.
Dominican opened the 2019 campaign in Danville, Kentucky, topping the Olivet Comets 4-2 before falling to the host Centre College Colonels 11-1. Making his first collegiate start, freshman Hayden Young went eight innings, striking out 11, to pick up the game one victory for the Stars. Centre made the most of the with a pair of victories against Dominican (11-1) and Olivet (11-4) at Gary Wright Field. The Colonels combined for 18 hits on the day, improving to 4-1 overall.

Finishing the weekend an unblemished 3-0, North Central College rolled Blackburn, 20-7 in the finale of the weekend series held at Itchy Jones Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University. The Cardinals scored nine in the ninth inning to put the game away. The University of Dallas pulled out an 8-5 victory over Wilmington to conclude in second place in the tournament. The Crusaders put up eight runs through the first four innings, including a solo shot by Luke Boylson. The Quakers stifled their offense after the fourth frame. WC grabbed three runs late in the contest, but UD was able to escape with the win and a 2-1 overall weekend in Illinois.
The Golden Eagles made the most of their opportunities scoring two runs on three hits earning a victory, 2-0, over Case Western. Spalding then overcame a two-run deficit besting Case Western in 10 innings, 3-2, sweeping the series to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Endicott defeated No. 4 Trinity (Texas), 5-4, to wrap up its three-game weekend series against the Tigers. Endicott starter Joseph Oriola earned the win (1-0) on five innings pitched, three hits, three runs (all earned), one walk, and a team-high five strikeouts. Victor Molle shut the door over the next three innings (1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K) and Will Bryant picked up the save via one inning of work, one hit, one run (earned), three free passes, and two punchouts.
Huntingdon wrapped up its first conference series sweep of the season with a 12-6 win over Averett. Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, Huntingdon (9-0) scored four runs to take the lead for good. A two-run single by Bradley Harris drove in Chris Fisher and Will Cosby to give the Hawks a one-run lead. Garrett Breland scored on an error and Harris scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-3 at the end of the fifth. Wallace Henry (2-0) earned the win in seven innings, striking out two, walking three, giving up seven hits and allowing three earned runs.
North Park scored batches of runs early and late to beat the DePauw Tigers 11-6. Niko Buck reached baase in all six plate appearances with two singles and four hit-by-pitch. Buck's four hit-by-pitches in one game is tied for second-most all-time in NCAA Division III history. The last person to get hit four times in one game was North Park catcher Zach Deutscher on April 14, 2009 against Dominican University.
Additionally, the Vikings were hit by ten pitches as a team, which is also tied for second in NCAA Division III history.
Kean made it three in a row with a 7-3 win over FDU-Florham. The combo of John Carello and Derek Walker led the top of the lineup with five hits, four runs scored, a triple and two RBI for Kean (6-1). Frank LoGiudice earned the win after tossing five and two thirds innings allowing three runs and seven hits. He (1-1) fanned one and walked two.

After a grueling and wet weekend of competition against the visiting Bruins of George Fox, the Pacific Lutheran came out victorious in the series, clinching a close game with a final score of 7-6. Pac Luhernan took two of three from the Bruins over the weekend. Andy Scmitz was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Lutes offense while Jacob Bockelie had three hits.
Pacific extended its winning streak to seven games with an 11-4 win over host Lewis & Clark. The Boxers (9-3) have had at least eight hits in all seven wins. Pacific held a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth before scoring six times en route to the victory. Ian Blair made the most of his fifth start in 12 games, going 3-for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored to lead the Boxer offense, who pounded out 10 hits. Ryan Krout and Eli Wisdom each had two hits in the win; plus, Krout had three more RBI and Wisdom added two. The three combined for seven of the 10 hits to lead Pacific. Pacific starting pitcher Sam Lawrence raised his record to 4-0, going 6.1 innings, allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and striking out two in the win. Liam Cammall pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing three hits for his first save.
Cabrini kicked off their spring break trip today with a pair of games against Milwaukee School of Engineering and Saint Mary's University -Minnesota. The Blue and White opened their spring break trip with a dramatic 6-5 victory against MSOE. Henry Peguero, who finished with a team high three hits, recorded his biggest of the season with a rope to center for the walkoff win, handing the Cavs the 6-5 victory and their third win of the season in the process. Cabrini's second opponent Saint Mary's (Minn.) erupted for 11 runs against the Cavaliers, including four on Matthew Piechowski's first collegiate grand slam, as the Cardinals rolled to an 11-1 win. And the offense remained in high gear in Saint Mary's second game of the day, as the Cardinals walked away — literally — with a yet another lopsided win, taking advantage of a single-game school-record 16 walks and cruising to a 13-8 victory over MSOE.
The Purchase College baseball team began the season on a high note, defeating The City College of New York, 4-0, on opening day Saturday afternoon. Cunningham earned his first win of 2019 and the shutout for PC with his season-debut total of nine strikeouts, four hits and not a single walk over six innings on the mound.

Maritime (N.Y.) came up with a dramatic comeback win in game two of a doubleheader against Plattsburgh State. After dropping the opening game of the series 17-4, the Privateers came back from a 3-0 deficit in game two to pull out the 5-4 win and split the non-conference doubleheader. Maritime struggled offensively against the Cardinals ace in the opening game after opening up their season with a sweep the day before. Patrick Bryant pitched four scoreless innings for Plattsburgh while only allowing one hit. Once the bullpen entered, the Privateers finally got their offense rolling, but the four-run fifth inning wasn't enough to mount a comeback and they fell 17-4 in the opening game. With momentum still on the Cardinals side, the Privateers fell behind early once again in the second game as they trailed 3-0 after four innings. but a five run fifth was enough to gain a split on the day.
Cortland scored 12 unanswered runs over its final five innings as the nationally eighth-ranked Red Dragons rallied to defeat Penn St. Abington, 14-5, at Maine-Endwell High School. Cortland (2-2-1) finished with 17 hits, including five players with multiple-hit games. Marcos Perivolaris went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Colin BeVard was 2-for-3 with a homer, two walks, two RBI and four runs scored and Scott Giordano finished 2-for-6 with a homer, double, three RBI and two runs. Danny Coleman and Wyatt Myers each finished 2-for-4 with a double. Coleman drove in two runs and Myers has one RBI. Joe Rizzo and Zach Morales each went 2-for-4 with a walk and RBI for Penn St. Abington (1-3), which finished with eight hits. Mitchell Cavanagh, the third of five Cortland relievers, earned the win with three and two third innings of two-hit shutout ball. He struck out five and walked two.
Bridgewater (Va.) picked up its first win of the season when it split a doubleheader with DeSales. Chad Lenz provided the Eagles with a strong start in the opener and Brett Jones powered the offense in a 10-5 victory. In the second game, DeSales erased a 4-1 deficit with five runs in the fourth, padded its lead to 11-4 with five more in the fifth and broke the game open with another five-spot in the seventh to defeat the Eagles 21-8.
