In an early season heavyweight battle between a pair of top-ten teams, 7th-ranked Christopher Newport remained undefeated (6-0) with a 4-3 win over No. 4 Randolph-Macon (0-1) on Tuesday afternoon. CNU scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead and held on for a one-run win against the regional rival. The win snaps a seven game losing streak against the Yellow Jackets and runs the Captains' season-opening win streak to six, the third best start in program history. It is also the 22nd win over a top-10 opponent for head coach John Harvell's Captains in his 19-year tenure.
St. Mary's College of Maryland (4-1) earned two comeback victories over the visiting McDaniel Green Terror (0-2) in a pair of seven inning games. The Seahawks trailed by nine runs in the fifth inning of game one and one run in the sixth inning of game two before they completed their comeback bids.
Against Oglethorpe, Piedmont extended its win streak to seven games with a 5-2 win over the Stormy Petrels. The Piedmont pitching staff combined to allow just two runs on five hits with Tyler Fairchild earning his first win as a Lion. Noah Heatherly was 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBI, the two runs that put the Lions out in front to start the scoring.
Cabrini picked up a 7-3 victory in a rematch with the Augustana Vikings. The Blue and White tied a season high with 15 hits and were led by sophomore Steven Priest. Priest finished a perfect 4-4 on the day, including a double, with two runs and two RBI singles. Sophomore Justin Henry tallied three hits and three runs scored, while senior Tyler Norris also finished with three hits.
NC Wesleyan rallied from an early deficit and then scored a late run to break a 7-all tie to defeat former conference rival Ferrum 8-7 at home. After trailing 3-1 after two innings, Wesleyan then scored 3 runs each in the 3rd and 4th innings to take a 7-3 lead. However, Ferrum would rally scoring 4 runs over the next two innings to tie the matchup at 7 heading to the 7th inning. NCWC then scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the 7th inning as senior catcher Brandon Wheat came around to score on a Ferrum balk. The Bishops were led by RBI doubles from seniors Cedrick Kornegay and Trey Croom and an RBI single from senior Nate Gardner in the third inning while Wheat also drove in two runs on the day.
Texas-Tyler (5-2) battled the rain to come away with a 10-0 shutout victory over NCAA Division II opponent East Central University (2-14) at Irwin Field. On the mound, freshman right-handed pitcher Kasey Williamson picked up the win in his first collegiate start. He pitched the first two innings before the rain delay before Page entered the game. He pitched the middle three innings and struck out five Tiger batters while Givens punched out a pair on his two innings of work.
Maryville used a dozen hits and strong pitching performance from Damian Lusby to defeat Emory & Henry 4-0 on MC's Scotland Yard. Maryville put up a trio of runs in their first offensive inning. A Mike Homan single to left field sent Jake Petersen home before a two-out double by Cody Gregory plated both Homan and Peyton Sawyer to give the Scots a 3-0 advantage. MC's Damian Lusby earned the mound victory after tossing five shutout innings scattering only a pair of hits. Trevor Townsend, D.J. Cooper, and Samuel Joiner maintained the staff shutout collectively striking out four and allowing two hits over four relief innings. The Scots added an insurance run in the eighth inning went pinch runner Ian Campbell scored on a Mike Homan RBI ground out to third base.

Johns Hopkins got solid pitching from Harrison Folk and Josh Hejka as Johns Hopkins shutout Gwynedd Mercy, 5-0, at Babb Field. This was the first shutout for JHU since Nick Burns pitched a complete game shutout on April 21, 2018 in game two of a doubleheader against Ursinus. JHU is now 5-1 against the Griffins all-time as Hopkins has won the last four meetings. This was the first shutout in the six-game series. The Griffins outhit the Blue Jays, 11-6, but JHU stranded 10 runners on base while GM left nine runners on.
It came down to the wire on Tuesday afternoon but in the end Pacific Lutheran was able to close it out, collecting a 5-4 victory over crosstown nemesis Puget Sound in a non-conference showdown at PLU Field. The Lutes (7-4) showcased some different faces in their starting lineup, including junior Cameron Clem and first-year Tommy Snyder, both of whom came in clutch during high-pressure parts of the game.
Rose-Hulman rallied from a 10-3 deficit with a huge 10-run 4th inning rally, helping the Fightin' Engineers knock off Saint Mary's (Minn.) 18-14 in game two of its Florida baseball. Rose-Hulman trailed 10-3 entering the top of the 4th inning before pounding out 10 runs on six hits to take the lead at 13-10. The Fightin' Engineers went back to their vintage solid pitching and defense for the last five innings, then added several insurance runs to pick up the four-run victory. Rose-Hulman pounded out 21 hits in the contest, with Conner Shipley and Davis Robeson leading the hit parade with four hits each.
Ellis Stokes went 2-for-4, scored twice, stole two bases and had one RBI as Guilford defeated visiting Greensboro. 10-3, at McBane Field. The win was the fifth straight for the Quakers, who improved to 5-3. The Pride fell to 0-3. Rhett Miller started on the hill for Guilford. He tossed three no-hit frames, struck out five and walked two hitters. Mitchell Stumpo (1-1) earned the win after completing three innings and allowing two runs. He fanned five hitters and walked none. Parker Brann allowed one run in two innings. Ryan Hill, who started the game at third base, tossed a scoreless ninth to end the game.
Roanoke defeated Averett 8-1 on the road in non-conference action. Waring Garber earned the win allowing only two hits in two innings of work. As a staff, Roanoke allowed only six hits on the day, highlighted by four innings where they held the Cougars to no hits. Will Merriken led the way going 2-for-4 with three RBI while Matt Wojciechowski was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Kean pushed their win streak to four with a 5-2 win over Moravian College in non-conference action. Christopher Rossi (1-0) picked up the win in his first action on 2019. He allowed two run in five innings of work with three strikeouts as Kean improved to 7-1 this spring. Frank Dente IV earned his second save of the season after tossing four innings of shutout ball. He allowed one hit, one walk and struck out four. Offensively John Carello was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI while Frank LoGiudice was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Rhett Jacoby (0-1) suffered the loss in Moravian's season opener. He allowed two runs, one earned, in relief with five strikeouts.

Hood 's Andrew Haupt delivered a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to cap a comeback win for the Blazers over Catholic 6-5. Nate Luscombe started on the mound for the Blazers allowing three hits and one earned run in five innings of work while striking out three. Jahlin Jean-Baptiste pitched 1.2 innings of shutout relief. Jake Howell pitched the top half of the ninth to secure the save.
Six Comet pitchers combined for the first shutout of the season as Texas-Dallas used two big innings to roll to an 11-0 road win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in non-conference play. The Comets (5-6) scored four runs in the 5th and six in the 9th to pick up their third win in four outings after a 2-5 start to the season. UTD will now open American Southwest Conference play this weekend with a three-game home series with Hardin-Simmons.
No shortage of offensive firepower for Hanover, led by junior Spencer Coop and sophomore Grant Larimore. The Panthers began the season Monday afternoon with a single game against Cabrini. The Cavaliers (4-2) took the contest 16-7. Hanover bounced back Tuesday, defeating Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) and Northern Vermont-Lyndon by scores of 12-1 (7 innings) and 8-6, respectively, giving the program its first two wins under first-year head coach Grant Bellak. The tandem of Larimore and Coop have combined to hit .520 (13-25) over the first two days of play. Combined, Larimore and Coop have half of the team's RBI, 12, and one-third of the runs scored, nine, while also producing three extra-base hits each. As a team, Hanover is batting .309 with a .342 on-base percentage. The Blue and Red have scored 26 runs for an average of nearly nine per game thus far. Hanover also has 13 extra-base hits, while conceding seven to its opponents.
Emory used a four-run eighth inning to upend No.-24 ranked Berry, 5-3, in Mount Berry, GA. Trailing 3-1 with two outs in the top of the eighth, Emory saw five consecutive batters reach base safely to take the lead. Jack Rubenstein walked before Bubby Terp singled to left. Eric Terry broght home one and Jackson Grayson single to right to scored go-ahead run. Michael Edelman capped off the four-run frame with an RBI double Berry did not go quietly, bringing the game-winning run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth. Freshman Jack Brodsky buckled down after putting on two base runners and retired the final two batters he faced on fly outs to earn his first career save.
