Lisle, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team earned a doubleheader split at top-ranked Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) Thursday night at Benedictine University. The Cougars, ranked first on this week's American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball Top-25 Poll and on D3baseball.com, won the opener, 3-0, Thursday. The Eagles, receiving votes on the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, took the nightcap, 10-0 in seven innings. The games were moved to Benedictine's The Sports Complex to utilize its lights after a lengthy rain delay in Chicago. 

UWL is now 16-10 on the season while Concordia Chicago is 24-2.   

Connor Cook (4-1) pitched UWL's seventh no-hitter in the nightcap Thursday as UWL ended Concordia Chicago's (Ill.) 24-game winning streak. The Cougars had not lost since a season-opening 4-3 defeat toe Spalding University (Ky.). 

Cook went 7.0 innings, allowing one walk while striking out eight. He faced two batters over the minimum as Connor Brandon walked in the bottom of the second and Bryan VanDuser reached on an Eagles' fielding error in the seventh. 

It is UWL's first no-hitter since Kyle Kaufman accomplished the feat versus UW-Superior on May 1, 2004. Cook and Kaufman join Arnie Wilhelm (vs. UW-River Falls on May 7, 1941), Jesse McComb(vs. Winona State University on May 25, 1955), Ron Joten (vs. Arkansas State University on April 12, 1974), Rob Fornisiere (vs. Hartwick University in 1976) andJared Manske (vs. Winona State on April 11, 2000) to record no-hitters at UWL. 

UWL took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Zach Carney scored on Brennan Schmitt'ssingle and Carson Youngquist followed with a two-run home run. Tommy Nelsen's RBI single in the second gave the Eagles a 4-0 lead. 

The Eagles got two runs in the fifth as Brady Stolzman scored on a throwing error andShane Coker came in on Alex Robson's sacrifice fly. UWL added four runs on five hits in the sixth inning with all four runs coming on two-out hits. Nate Heili tripled to start the inning and scored on Youngquist's double for a 7-0 lead. Coker, Jake McClellan and Robson added two-out run-scoring singles for the Eagles. 

UWL totaled 13 hits in the nightcap with Heili, Schmitt, Youngquist, Coker and McClellan each finishing with two. Youngquist had three RBI and Robson two while Youngquist, Stolzman and Coker each scored twice. 

Cade Laudenschlager (3-1) took the loss for Concordia Chicago (Ill.), going 3.0 innings, allowing five hits, four runs and one walk while striking out five. 

Two Concordia Chicago (Ill.) pitchers combined ona three-hit shutout in Thursday's opener. Noah Dressler (3-0) earned the win for the Cougars, pitching 8.0 innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out three. Mike Tobin picked up his fourth save of the season, going 1.0 inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout. 

The game was scoreless until in the bottom of the seventh when Brody Mariotti led-off the inning with a solo home run. Keegan Tyrell tripled with one out and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Concordia Chicago (Ill.) added to its lead in the bottom of the eighth as Matt Fauth scored on a wild pitch. 

Mason McMahon (3-2) suffered the loss for UWL, going 7.0 innings, allowing three hits, two runs and two walks while striking out nine. Cal Tully went 2-for-3 for the Eagles while Youngquist finished 1-for-3. 

Concordia Chicago (Ill.) had four hits in the opener.
