For the second day in a row, No. 4 seeded Otterbein rallied behind a complete-game pitching effort on the hill to secure another victory in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament at Fisher Field. The Cardinals, receiving a gem in Thursday's opener against host Baldwin Wallace, saw an almost identical performance from senior right-hander Johnny Putnam in the winner's game Friday morning en route to a 7-1 triumph over No. 3 seed Ohio Northern. He chucked 104 pitches, only allowed six hits, struck out five batters and walked just one across the nine full frames. As a result, Otterbein moves into Saturday's championship game at noon with the opponent yet to be determined. The Cardinals, who will have to get beat twice for elimination, can earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with just one more win. Following yesterday's loss, Heidelberg needed two wins to reach the Saturday championship round. They got both wins eliminating Baldwin Wallace 11-3 and Ohio Northern 10-0. Heidelberg, avergaing 8-plus runs a game will play Otterbein who has allowed two runs in the tournament.

Senior Daniel Zeglen threw a complete game to lead RIT to an 11-3 victory over RPI, in a Liberty League Tournament elimination game, Friday at Towers Field. With the win, the Tigers improve to 22-17 overall, while the Engineers conclude their season at 20-19. Zeglen allowed three runs on nine hits over 9.0 innings, striking out two and walking three. Game two of the day saw Clarkson move into the Championship round defeating the Jackets 16-9. Rochester staved off elimination with a 2-1 win over cross-town rival RIT and will need to win twice against Clarkson to win the conference title.
Senior Jonathan Hernandez set the tone with a one-hit shutout as Chapman took down fourth-seeded Cal Lutheran 7-0 in the opening game of the SCIAC Tournament. The Panthers advance into the winner's bracket of the tournament to play La Verne at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Hernandez took a no-hitter into the sixth while the Panthers built a 5-0 lead on the offensive end. The senior righty struck out 10 and walked one while allowing just one runner into scoring position before he was doubled up to end the inning. Chapman will face La Verne, a 2-1 winner over Occidental.
Anthony Dombrowski finished a single away from the cycle, Ben Burman picked up three hits and two RBI and Will Carey threw five strong innings in relief as Susquehanna defeated Scranton 6-5 in a critical opening game to kick off the Landmark Conference playoffs. Susquehanna will play Moravian. Second seeded Moravian posted a 1-0 victory over third seed Catholic on a walk-off, one-out home run by senior center fielder Austin Markowski. Markowski's home run came in the tenth inning and was one of seven total hits between both teams.
Washington & Jefferson rallied to pick up a 7-4 comeback victory over Grove City in the PAC Championship Tournament at Ross Memorial Park. The Presidents improved to 31-11 this season after this afternoon's contest. The Wolverines, on the other hand, fall to 27-14. With the win, W&J advances to the title round tomorrow, while Grove City will need another win today to earn the right to face the Red & Black. Grove City exited the tournament, along with Waynesburg at the hands of Bethany. Two Bethany wins on Friday put the Bisons in the Championship round with the Presidents.
The 2019 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tournament had even more twists on Friday as No. 1 College of St. Scholastica was eliminated in the opener by No. 3 University of Northwestern, while the No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Superior tallied a huge comeback in the night cap to advance to it's first ever championship game against No. 2 Bethany Lutheran College. The Eagles grabbed a 6-3 win in the opener eliminating the Saints before the Vikings took down the Yellowjackets 4-2 to move on to Saturday without a loss. The Yellowjackets then tallied four runs in the ninth for a 6-3 comeback win over the Eagles to advance to the UMAC championship round for the first time since Wisconsin-Superior joined the UMAC in 2015-16. No. 2 Bethany Lutheran enters Saturday's game undefeated needing just one win to claim a second-straight UMAC postseason title, while No. 4 Wisconsin-Superior will need to win both games to capture the program's first postseason UMAC title.
No. 14 ranked UW-Whitewater earned another victory Friday on the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. After opening the day with a 6-1 triumph over UW-Stout, the Warhawks (33-9 overall) improved to 2-0 for the tournament with a 1-0 victory over UW-La Crosse and will play for the tournament title Saturday at 3 p.m. UW-La Crosse and UW-Platteville will open the action on Saturday with the winner facing the Warhawks for the tournament title. The WIAC does not recieve an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.
Ripon College advanced to its first Midwest Conference Tournament championship game since 2015 after going 2-0 on Friday. The Red Hawks will face the winner of Cornell College and University of Chicago who play a rematch of game one on Saturday. The Rams were shutout by the Maroons 2-0 in the first game of the day to drop into the loser bracket where they defeated Monmouth College 5-1 to keep their season alive. The Scots, hosts of this season’s tournament after winning the south division, fell to Ripon 4-3 in the pair’s first game of the day. After losing both games on Friday, Monmouth will not repeat as MWC Champions. The Scots cut Ripon’s lead to one twice in their opening but Red Hawk pitcher Brice Swick kept them at bay in a complete game win. Swick allowed just one earned run in his nine innings while striking out four.
Shenandoah stands one win from its second consecutive ODAC title after downing Randolph-Macon 8-6 Friday morning. Shenandoah advances into the championship game versus the winner of the Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan contest. The Hornets, who have now reached the 30-win mark for the ninth time in the past 11 years, scored four runs in the first off of R-MC starter Michael Zubovich, but had to rally as Macon took a 6-4 lead thanks to two runs in the second, one in the third and two more in the fourth. Coach Kevin Anderson's club cut the deficit in half with one run in the sixth before scoring two runs in the eighth off of Yellow Jackets reliever Tim Barron (0-3). Randolph Macon lost twice to Virginia Wesleyan in the regular season but with a 2-1 win today and a spot in the championship game, the Jackets evened their record with the Marlins with a second win in as many days over Virginia Wesleyan.

Webster opened up defense of its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship by posting an 11-1 victory over East Division No. 2 seed Greenville in the first round of the 2019 SLIAC Tournament at Robert E. Smith Field. With the win, the 23rd ranked Gorloks achieve their 10th all-time 30-win season. Friday's win over Greenville sets up a winner’s bracket match-up between the Gorloks and East Division No. 1 seed Spalding, who shared the regular season SLIAC title with Webster. Spalding opened the SLIAC Tournament with a 3-2 win over No. 4 seeded Westminster (Mo.) on Friday at SIU-Edwardsville. Webster closed the day with an 8-1 victory over Spalding, moving to the title round and await the final elimination game between Spalding and Greenville. The Panthers eliminated Westminster (Mo.) 8-2 earlier in the day.
Gwynedd Mercy took game one of the 2019 Atlantic East Baseball Championship series in convincing fashion, winning 20-5. Nick Mulvey achieved a baseball rarity, knocking in seven runs on officially one hit. The seven RBIs were a career high as he was officially 1-for-3 at the plate. He added three sacrifice flies, which is a program single-game record and ties the D-III record (accoplished three other times), to go along with his grand slam in the second inning. Nine of the team's 14 hits went for extra bases while the team took advantage of 10 Cavalier walks along with five errors to plate four unearned runs. Justin Curtin was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, three walks, and a career-high four runs scored. Dave Tatoian added three RBI's, while Sachael Sciarretta scored three times and Ryan Keen added a solo home run.
Taylor Perrett fired a complete game four-hit shutout to lead Denison to a 7-0 victory over Allegheny in game five of the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. With the win, Denison advanced to face Wooster in the championship series, needing to defeat the Fighting Scots twice in order to win the NCAC Championship. The Big Red was able to get halfway to a NCAC title with a 5-3 victory sending both teams into a winner-take-all game on Saturday. Denison took an early lead on Wooster but the Scot's took a one run lead into the ninth. Three runs in the top of the ninth gave life to DU and after shutting down Wooster in their offensive half, a 5-3 win.
Day two of the American Rivers Conference Tournament saw the sun come out and the temperatures 15-degrees warmer than day one. The day's first game also saw second-seeded Buena Vista upend 12th-ranked and top-seeded Coe to make it to the championship game of the double elimination tournament. The Beavers came out with a 4-0 victory to earn a spot in the American Rivers championship game. The tournament's second elimination game between No.4 Dubuque and No.5 Central saw the Spartans stay alive with a 3-2 nail biter. Dubuque turned around to face No.3 Luther in another elimination game, where the Spartans knocked the Norse out by a score of 3-1. The final day of the American Rivers Baseball Tournament will begin with elimination game between No.2 Coe and No.4 Dubuque. The Buena Vista Beavers will await the winner of Coe/Dubuque, for a Championship showdown.

In the win over the Panthers, Webster's offense came to play as the Gorloks collected 15 hits and scored multiple runs in three of the first five innings to post its third win this season over Greenville and extend its win streak in SLIAC Tournament first round games to 10 straight games. Webster is now 36-19 all-time in the tournament. The last time Webster lost a first-round game in the tournament was in 2009 when Fontbonne picked up a 6-5 victory over the Gorloks.
For the second consecutive game, No. 25 Ithaca fired a shutout in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament as the Bombers blanked St. John Fisher, 4-0, at Cornell's Hoy Field on Friday afternoon to advance to tomorrow's final. Ithaca is now 30-7 on the season and has won 11 straight games. Fisher falls to 28-13 and will square off against Stevens in an elimination game. Senior Jake Binder was the story of the day as the righty hurled his fifth complete game and third shutout of the season to improve to 7-3. Binder scattered nine hits in the outing with two strikeouts and stranded 11 Fisher runners, including eight in scoring position, on the day. Binder also fielded his position extremely well, as he notched six assists and a putout. St, John Fisher bounced back with a 4-3 win over Stevens to eliminate the Ducks and set up a rematch of the winners bracket final.
La Roche advanced to their eighth straight AMCC Championship Game after cruising to a 13-3 victory over Penn State Behrend. La Roche will look to win their sixth straight title and their seventh in the past eight years in the championship game tomorrow. Jonathon Spina had four hits while Austin Hoffman and Troy Kifer each drove in three runs. Spina, Tristin Tinney, Philip Pieto, Jay Novak, and Kifer all scored twice. Tre Thomas allowed just one earned run on seven hits to earn the complete game win.

A spot in the first championship-clinching game in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament was on the line on Friday (May 10) night when the second-seeded Franklin Grizzlies met top-seeded Rose-Hulman under the lights at Art Nehf Field. Facing off against one of the league's top pitchers on the host team's home field, the Grizzlies (27-13) got a dominant pitching performance from senior Aaron Leming, a strong outing from the defense and a methodical offensive showing that led to a 7-2 win over the Engineers (26-11). The win keeps Franklin unbeaten in the conference tournament and gives them the chance to clinch the conference tournament championship on Saturday afternoon. To earn a rematch with Franklin, Rose-Hulman will have to defeat Defiance. Defiance earned a spot in Saturday's elimination game with the Engineers, defeating Anderson 4-3 in 10 innings.
The 2019 CCIW Tournament continued Friday with four more games, again split between North Central's Zimmerman Stadium and Wheaton's Lee Pfund Stadium. The tournament continues tomorrow as No. 3 seed Millikin plays No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan with the winner scheduled for a game with homestanding No. 1 seed North Central. North Park needed three wins to get to Saturday and fell a run short in the late game, losing to Illinois Wesleyan 3-2. Earlier North Park shut out Wheaton (Ill.) 9-0 and eliminated Augustana 4-2. In between North Park's two wins, five-time defending regular season champion North Central moved into Saturday's tournament championship game with a 4-0 shutout of Millikin.
