Cortland scored four unearned runs in the top of the 10th inning and the nationally seventh-ranked Red Dragons defeated host Randolph-Macon, 12-9, to earn a split of the two-day, two-game series with the Yellow Jackets. The Red Dragons improved to 2-1 with the victory. Randolph-Macon, which defeated Cortland, 8-4, on Saturday, suffered its first loss of the year and is now 4-1. Scott Giordano reached base five times on a two-run triple and four walks and scored twice. 

LaGrange knocked No. 4 Birmingham-Southern from the unbeaten ranks with a 4-1 victory at Striplin Field. The win helped the Panthers (2-4) avoid the sweep in the weekend series. The host Panthers are now 4-1. McKinley Erves and Joe Ruth each had two hits for the Panthers. Erves hit his first collegiate home run and added a double. He is batting a team-leading .400 on the season. J.R. Robinson (2-0) pitched into the seventh before exiting with one out. Robinson scattered five hits and an unearned run. He walked three and struck out two. Baley Coleman pitched the final 2-2/3 innings for his second save.

Kean opened up the 2020 season with a 6-5 win over Gwynedd Mercy. Frank LoGiudice led all players with three hits on the day while adding an RBI and run scored. Brandon Johannessen was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while Philip Mahlik was 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored.

Maryville used a 15-hit offensive attack to sweep a home-opening series from MacMurray by the score of 11-5. The Scots, hitting .332 on the season as a unit, were paced by sophomore shortstop Gabe Lopez. Lopez finished 3-for-5 scoring three times while driving in a trio of runs. Senior designated hitter Alden Wright went 2-of-3 while Derek Hurt and Cody Gregory each tallied a pair of RBI. Rookie right-hander Chris Arbuthnot earned his first collegiate victory on the mound after scattering seven hits over five innings allowing just one earned run. Trevor Townsend struck out a pair in two innings of relief before Jacob Hanson and Andrew Miller each closed the door with scoreless innings on the mound.

Shenandoah opened up its 2020 season by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Misericordia. Shenandoah (2-0) rallied in both games, winning the lid-lifter, 6-5, and game two, 4-3. Keegan Woolford, now with 26 career home runs, is one home run from fourth place all-time and four from tying Scott Van Dusseldorp '10 and Cory Nelson '12 for the career record.

Senior Pete Violante and sophomore Teddy Hoxie combined to throw a five-hitter and Drew captured a 3-2 victory over Alvernia in their season opener at Kean. Violante allowed just two runs on four hits over six innings pitched. He struck out four and walked one. Hoxie came on to fire three shutout innings, striking out three and yielding just one hit and one walk. He induced a game-ending double play to earn his first career save. Senior Brent Lincoln went 2-for-4 with a two-run double to lead the Rangers at the plate while senior Max Felsenstein went 2-for-3.

Dylan Tuttle had two hits and scored a run in Guilford s 4-3 win over visiting Brevard at McBane Field. The Quakers (3-1) took advantage of seven Tornados' errors and a passed ball to clinch the three-game weekend series with two wins after the teams split a Saturday doubleheader. Five different Guilford pitchers scattered seven hits and two earned runs. Sophomore starter Drew Sawyer threw three shutout innings in his first college start. Joey Hegeman (1-0) tossed the fifth and sixth frames to earn the victory and Tanner Hobbs fanned three in the final two innings to earn a save.

Hampden-Sydney Seniors Andrew Kasiski and Jonathan Triesler each had two RBIs in the second game, while Triesler provided a three-run home run in the first game, as Hampden-Sydney split a non-conference doubleheader on the road at William Peace at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Sophomore Trenton Tiller gained the complete game pitching victory in the 8-2 nightcap for the visiting Tigers (1-2), while classmate Kieran Conway took the mound setback in the 9-6 opener against the host Pacers (5-1).

Centre improved to 3-0 on the season as they swept their
first series of the year over the Principia Panthers, winning
Sunday's series finale by a score of 6-3 thanks to some
clutch plays in the late innings.

Methodist had a 7-0 lead by the bottom of the third inning en route to a 12-3 victory over visiting Bridgewater (Va.) in the third and final day of the Diamond Invitational. The Monarchs put up a trio of runs in each of the second and third innings and added four more in the sixth for safe measure. Jordan Cassell led with four RBIs on two-of-four at the plate. Tucker Criswell made it home on three of his four trips (team-high) to the bases after three walks and a hit.

No. 13 Salisbury returned to the field for the second time in two days on Sunday afternoon, picking up the opening weekend sweep with a victory over the Alfred State Pioneers, 12-3. Salisbury starting pitcher Braden Stinar (1-0) picked up his first victory of the season, tossing six full innings, allowing four hits and striking out four batters. All three of his earned runs came on the fifth-inning homerun by Henby. Justin Meekins added three more stolen bases to his season total while also going 2-for-4 at the plate with a walk and three RBI.

George Fox split their the postponed series opening day against the Occidental Tigers with a 7-3 win in game one and a 10-3 loss in game two. Christopher Stone allowed three runs in six innings and earned his first win of the season. The Bruins had three different batters with two-run homers: Leon Johnson III (1-4, two RBIs), Tfevor Nannini (3-5, one RBI), and Chase Fetzer (3-4, two RBIs) in game one. In game two, Swenson was 2-2 with a double and a run scored while Audet had a double, RBI, and a run scored. Spencer Roos went two for two in his collegiate debut after entering late in the game.

Strong hitting and pitching guided Washington and Lee to an 8-2 win over Averett on to complete the three-game series sweep. Senior right-hander Tom Kellogg (1-0) was stellar on the mound for the Blue and White, as he tossed 8.2 innings and allowed two unearned runs. Kellogg limited Averett to just 6-for-33 (.182) at the plate and tallied seven strikeouts. Junior reliever Mason Shuffler came on and recorded the final out of the game. Ryan Monson finished with two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Brian Wickman tallied two RBI in the game.

Redlands met up with the Texas-Dallas for the third and final non-conference game of the series. Although the Bulldogs gave up an early lead, they clawed away at the deficit little by little eventually taking the game in thrilling, comeback fashion, 3-2. Despite giving up two runs on three hits in the top of the first, sophomore pitcher Andrew Rueter regrouped and rolled through the Comets batters, allowing only two hits over the next six innings while also striking out four.

Joe Brennan struck out a career-high 10 batters and Dylan Joyce left his mark on both the mound and in the batters' box as Puget Sound split a non-conference doubleheader at Pacific. Joe Brennan needed just five innings on the mound to strikeout a career-high 10 batters in the Loggers' 5-3 win over the Boxers. Brennan's previous career-best mark was nine strikeouts in a game against Lewis & Clark during the 2018 season. The Boxers raced out to a 5-0 lead through two innings as Pacific won the second game Sunday, 12-4.

Arcadia wrapped up its opening weekend road trip with a 2-1 record after defeating DeSales, 6-0, at the Diamond Invitational. Nick Fossile tossed four strong innings to earn the victory, while five Knights combined for the shutout. Alex Madera had his second-straight multi-hit game with three hits, one RBI, one run and three stolen bases. Zak Thomas also had a productive day at the plate with two RBI, while Justin Massielo added his first career RBI, extended his hit streak to three games and worked a couple walks.

Delayed by a little rain, Rhodes picked up their fourth
straight victory after defeating Ferrum 6-5 on the
campus of Oglethorpe Sunday. The Lynx have earned
11 or more hits in each win so far this season while
the pitching staff has struck out 53 opponents.

Millikin closed out their opening weekend in Conway, Arkansas, recording their first win of the 2020 season defeating Hendrix 4-0. Mason McGahey led the Big Blue on offense, going 2-4 on the day, recording a double and a home run. Gabe Soria would score two of the four runs scored by Millikin in the game and Kyle Kane scored one. Ben Williamson would record his first win of the season on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and no runs, striking out one. Evan Lawrence would come in as relief in the sixth inning, closing out the game throwing 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and no runs, striking out two.

The Eagles completed a three-game sweep against Westminster College with a 7-5 win Sunday. The Eagles had a big first inning to propel the offense. Chase Edwards doubled in Josh Stephens. Trey Vance singled in Edwards and Vance and Brooks Boshers later scored on an error. Westminster got a run back in the second and third inning. The Eagles scored in the sixth inning to increase the lead to 5-2 on a solo home run by Tyler Arco. Westminster responded with three runs in the eighth to even the score 5-5. But the Eagles answered with RBI singles from Erick Aguirre and Rey Lozano to take the lead for good. Lozano and Arco each had two hits. Zachary Brizendine received the win in relief. He pitched one inning and Kris Sloane threw the final inning to receive the save.

 Marymount completed its season-opening series with Cairn, earning its third-straight win, 6-3, over the Highlanders. Behind another strong start on the mound, the Saints were able to take an early lead. Junior Stephen Gerade earned his first win of the year with five-strong innings on the mound, allowing only one run and striking out five.

The Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders got an early start to their 2020 campaign this afternoon when they took on Stevens Institute in a doubleheader. Rutgers University-Newark opened their season with a split as they won game one before Stevens rebounded and took the win in the second outing. Jamir Ramos picked up his first win of the season, pitching one inning and forcing two fly outs and one ground out to close out the game in the eighth inning. Michael Matusz got the start on the mound and hurled five innings with six strikeouts and allowed two runs on three hits. Matthew Rypkema went 1-for-5 from the dish and put that hit to good use as he belted in a pair of runs. Connor Clare finished with one hit and an RBI on three trips to home while Andre Tirso finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Senior Nate Rotenberger earned his first collegiate win leading Piedmont to a 4-1 win over Roanoke helping the Lions improve to 2-3 on the season. Pitching was key for the Lions on Sunday allowing just seven hits. Piedmont had eight hits to the Maroons' seven in the contest. Trawick was the lone Lion with more than a single hit as he was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Third-ranked Trinity (texas) finished off its part in the Concordia Classic with a 6-3 win over LeTourneau on Sunday afternoon. Jack Vonderhaar was one of four Trinity players with two hits in the game, going 2-3 with two runs scored. Both of his hits were for extra bases, collecting a double and a triple. Mason Meredith also had two hits and two runs scored, while Blake Johnson and Jack Wisniewski each had a pair of hits. Michael Herrera hit his team-leading third homer of the season and scored two runs for the Tigers, while Tyler Pettit drove in a pair of runs in the game. Cadhan McGahan (1-0) pitched 5.2 shutout innings of relief to earn his first collegiate win, allowing just four hits and striking out seven batters.
