Ramapo College Head Coach Rich Martin earned his 500th coaching victory with a 21-6 win over Oglethorpe University in Lakeland Florida.
Martin is in his 12th season at Ramapo's helm, guiding the Roadrunners to 235 wins during that span. In that time, Martin's teams have gone to the NJAC Tournament five times, the ECAC Metro Tournament six times – winning four ECAC Championships. In 2011 Ramapo earned it's first NCAA Regional Appearance since 1988. For his efforts, Martin was named the 2011 NJCBA Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time at Ramapo, Coach Martin spent seven seasons as the skipper of the Hofstra University baseball program. While there, Martin led the pride to the 1993 East Coast Conference Championship and a school best 27 wins in 1995. Previous to Hofstra, Coach Martin started the program at Dominican College. During his five seasons as the Chargers' head coach, Martin delivered four straight NAIA District 31 Champions and Region 8 runners up seasons. Coach Martin was named the NAIA District 31 Coach of the Year in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989 and was a finalist for the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 1986, 1988 and 1989. While at Dominican, Martin produced four NAIA All-Americans, 21 NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans, 36 All-District 31 and All-Region 8 players.
In all, Martin's career record stands at 500-390(.562 winning percentage), and 39 of his players have signed professional baseball contracts.
