Berry Ends Sewanee Baseball’s Season at SAA Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Sewanee baseball team saw the 2019 season come to an end on Saturday from Striplin Field on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College, as the Tigers were eliminated from the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Baseball Tournament by the Vikings of Berry, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Berry scored first in the bottom half of the opening inning before adding a second run in the fourth inning.

-The Vikings eventually put the contest away in the fifth and sixth innings with back-to-back two-run frames.

-The Tigers' third hit of the game in the eighth inning happened to break the shutout. With one out and after Bryce Benedict was beaned by a pitch, Tyler Dunbar brought him home on an RBI double.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Tyler Dunbar recorded a double and an RBI to avoid the shutout for Sewanee.

-Trey Holland (5-4) suffered the loss, tossing 5.2 innings. Dalton Buckingham pitched 2.1 innings of relief, allowing just one hit in his appearance.

BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Casey Whitaker and Zach Huie each recorded three hits to lead the Vikings offense.

-Dylan Beasley (5-0) tossed a complete game, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 11 batters.
