The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its twelfth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the sixth Team of the Week of the 2024 season.

Games of March 18-24, 2024

C   Blake Dincman, Jr., Emory

Dincman had a torrid week at the plate as he led the Eagles to a 3-0 week against #18 Birmingham-Southern and Wooster. Dincman batted 8-for-10 (.800) with four doubles and one home run while driving in seven runs. He scored a team-best five runs while also topping the Eagles in RBI, total bases (15), slugging % (1.500), and on-base percentage (.833).

1B  Danny MacDougall, Jr., Endicott

MacDougall slashed .471/.526/1.235 alongside seven runs scored, five extra-base hits (a double and four home runs), 12 RBI, two walks, and a stolen base in a 3-1 week for the Gulls.

1B Cale Oehler, Jr., Brevard

Oehler went 11-for-14 at the plate with a pair of home runs, a double, nine RBI, five runs scored, and a pair of walks for a .786 batting average as the Tornados took two of three at Pfeiffer.

2B  Joey Di Rocco, Jr., Plattsburgh

Di Rocco had an outstanding week for the Cards, as the junior second basemen extended his hit streak to 10 games over a busy Spring Trip for Plattsburgh State. Over the entire week, Di Rocco hit .500 (13-for-26), scored 13 runs, drove in 11 runs, homered once, and doubled four times while also walking five times. 

SS  Brandon Garcia, So., Lynchburg

Beginning with a 3-for-4 performance on the road at Virginia Wesleyan, Garcia helped Lynchburg to three wins against conference opponents. He batted .545 (6-for-11) with nine runs and five RBIs. He had two doubles for a .727 slugging percentage with five walks and three stolen bases.

3B  Frankie Vasquez, Jr., Brevard

Vasquez went 9-for-16 (.563) at the dish with four runs scored, two home runs, two doubles, and 15 RBI - with 11 RBI all in game two of a three-game series at Pfeiffer. This shattered BC's NCAA-era single-game RBI record, and tied a 22-year-old record for single-game RBI in the USA South Conference.

OF Andrew Cash, Jr., WPI

Cash collected hits in seven of his 11 at-bats last week on his way to delivering a .636 batting average and an eye-popping slash line of .636/.667/1.455.  The junior launched three homers in two contests to go along with six runs scored and 10 runs batted in along with a slugging percentage of 1.455.

OF  Jacob Charon, Sr., Lawrence

Charon batted .619 (13-for-21) in six games with five doubles, a triple and three home runs. He score 10 runs and drove in another 10. Charon hit for the cycle in Lawrence's 13-0 win over Knox in the Midwest Conference opener played in Davenport, Fla.

OF Ray Leonzi, Jr., Eastern Conn. St.

In a 3-0 week which opened the northern season, Leonzi batted .538 (5-for-8) with three home runs, a triple, seven RBI and five runs scored.

DH Tommy Landsnes, Fr., Allegheny

Landsnes had a breakout series in Sunday sweep vs. Franciscan, as he started both games as Allegheny's DH in 2024 PAC opener. He combined for five hits in eight at-bats (.625) with six RBIs and three runs. He had a double and a triple to go along with three stolen bases.

DH  Shane Stossel, Sr., Lebanon Valley

Stossel had a huge week at the plate for the Dutchmen. He slashed .538/.684/.1.231 with three home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored in four games. In game two on Sunday, he recorded his 100th career hit on a single to left to lead off the fourth in a tough defeat to the Bulldogs.

SP  Johnny Blake, Sr., Dubuque

Blake tossed a complete nine inning game no-hitter en route to a dominating 7-0 victory.  Blake shut down the Luther Norse and allowed no runs on no hits after facing 28 batters. He struck out 10 batters and allowed a lone walk in the bottom of the fourth.

SP  Nick Drinken, Sr., Northwestern (Minn.)

Drinken came within one out of history in his only appearance on the mound this past week. He took a no hitter all the way to the final out when an infield single ended the no hit bid. Drinkin ended the game with a win, a complete game, seven innings, one hit allowed, one walk allowed, no runs allowed, and ten strikeouts.

SP Adam Maher, Jr., Mass.-Dartmouth

In his first start against a conference opponent this season, Maher was spectacular, throwing his second career no-hitter, this one through a full 9.0 innings. It is the first 9.0-inning no-hitter thrown this season. In addition to no hits, Maher recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 shutout of Southern Maine.

Malachi Duka, Jr., Lebanon Valley

Duka earned two wins in three relief appearances for the Dutchmen this week. The junior pitched four innings and struck out five with just one hit and three walks allowed. He earned the win in LVC's 15-8 victory over Immaculata throwing two hitless innings with three strikeouts and two walks. He was then the winning pitcher in a thrilling 10-inning victory at DeSales as he pitched the final 1.1 innings of the 9-8 victory with two strikeouts, a hit, and a walk. The junior finished the weekend getting the final two outs of a tough 13-9 defeat to the Bulldogs. He needed just eight pitches to get the Dutchmen out of bases loaded jam with one out.

RP  William Boneno, So., Johns Hopkins

Boneno was Johns Hopkins' top arm out of the bullpen this week, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing five hits and fanning eight across two appearances. The sophomore started his week as the back half of a combined shutout win over Wisconsin-Stevens Point, giving up just one hit and striking out two in 2.1 innings against the Pointers. Boneno then earned a his team-best third win of the season against Augustana, entering in relief and throwing 4.2 more scoreless innings before the game ended in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth. The sophomore's 4.2 innings pitched were a career-high, with Boneno allowing four hits and striking out six more to round out an impressive week.
