Provost Beverly Kopper, Riley Tincher, Brenda Tincher, Chancellor Richard Telfer celebrate Riley's graduation and a Warhawks victory. |
Senior Riley Tincher has hadn't had time to graduate.
That's not to say he hasn't put the time in to graduate, just that
the Warhawk lefthander has been busy. UW-Whitewater's graduation
ceremony was Saturday, May 14, but Tincher was with the UW-W
baseball team at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
Tournament in Stevens Point.
With the Warhawks immediately immersed in playing in -- and
hosting -- the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional, he finally
found time to shoehorn it in. UW-W chancellor Richard Telfer and
provost Beverly Kopper graciously arranged their schedules to be
present after the Warhawks defeated St. Thomas 3-2 on Wednesday
afternoon at Prucha Field at Jim Miller Stadium on the UW-W
campus.
Tincher was joined by family and friends -- and teammates and some
of the Warhawk baseball faithful.
Tincher won't have much time to celebrate, with the Warhawks back
in action in NCAA regional play Thursday with a 4:00 game against
Hamline University.
Tincher was named the WIAC Scholar Athlete for baseball as well as First
Team All-WIAC for the 2011 season.
